What Chord MCP server does
The Chord MCP server gives AI agents access to DEX routing and blockchain market data through a hosted MCP endpoint. It covers Ethereum, Monad, Robinhood Chain, Arc, Avalanche C-Chain, Base, BNB Chain, and Arbitrum One for swaps and data. Solana is supported for indexed data such as tokens, trades, candles, wallet PnL, smart traders, and liquidity pools, but not for swap quotes or transaction generation.
Its trading path searches available venues for a route and returns quote information plus an unsigned transaction. The service also indexes swaps, token holders, liquidity-provider positions, and wallet performance, allowing an agent to combine execution planning with market or portfolio research. This makes it relevant to the Finance & Fintech category, especially for agents that need to inspect on-chain activity before preparing a trade.
How it works
The hosted endpoint is available at https://api.getchord.xyz/v1/mcp and uses Streamable HTTP. No key or local installation is required. A client can optionally pass chain=<key> in the URL to set a default chain, while the tools themselves accept a chain input.
The server exposes 17 tools: chord_chains, chord_status, chord_overview, chord_tokens, chord_search, chord_token, chord_trades, chord_candles, chord_wallet, chord_wallet_trades, chord_smart_money, chord_holders, chord_lp_pools, chord_lp_positions, chord_quote, chord_swap_tx, and chord_ask. Chain capability coverage varies, so clients can use the chains endpoint to determine which data and swap functions are available on a network.
The Chord MCP server does not sign or broadcast transactions. chord_swap_tx returns an unsigned transaction, the required token approval, and a simulation performed as the taker. A wallet or other execution layer must handle signing and submission.
Setup and configuration
Claude Desktop can register the hosted server with an HTTP MCP configuration such as:
claude mcp add --transport http chord https://api.getchord.xyz/v1/mcp
The repository also contains a stdio bridge for clients that only accept stdio MCP servers. Other access paths include the public REST API, its OpenAPI specification, an Agent Skill, a documentation MCP server, and a function-calling tools manifest.
No environment variables or API credentials are documented as necessary for the hosted MCP server. The repository includes contract and fork-test code, but the routing engine and API service run remotely rather than in this repository.
Tools and capabilities
- Discover supported chains and inspect service status.
- Search tokens and retrieve token, trade, and candle data.
- Inspect wallet activity, PnL, holders, smart-money activity, LP pools, and LP positions where available.
- Request best-route DEX quotes on supported EVM chains.
- Prepare unsigned swap transactions and required approvals.
- Use the
chord_ask tool for the service's AI-agent interaction path.
Limitations and notes
Swap preparation is limited to the eight listed EVM networks. Solana provides data capabilities but no quote or unsigned-transaction swap path. Data features also differ by chain; smart-money, holder, and LP coverage is not available everywhere.
The server is non-custodial: it does not sign or send transactions. Agents must treat returned transaction data and simulations as preparation output and use a separate wallet or transaction executor for final approval and submission. The hosted service depends on the remote API, while the repository does not contain the routing engine or API server.
