What cafe-mcp does

The cafe-mcp MCP server connects MCP-compatible AI clients to the CAFE engine for Korean Saju and Chinese BaZi work. It calculates Four Pillars from birth information and returns structured results that an AI can use when composing a reading. Outputs include Hanja, Five Elements, Ten Gods, hidden stems, twelve life stages, stars, combinations, clashes, and void information.

The server also provides ten-year luck cycles, yearly and monthly pillars, monthly solar and lunar calendars, solar-term times, auspicious dates, and reverse searches for dates and times matching requested pillars. Supporting reference tools cover 980 Saju terms in Korean, Hanja, and English, along with selected classical works such as Ziping Zhenquan, Ditian Sui, and Qiongtong Baojian.

How it works

Connect an MCP client to the remote endpoint at https://mcp.24plus.ai.kr/mcp. The client can authenticate through OAuth or a bearer key issued by 24PLUS. After connection, provide birth date, time, and related location details to the calculation tools. find_birthplace helps locate a city for longitude correction, which is relevant for births outside Korea.

saju_reading_context combines chart facts, current luck, term meanings, and reading principles into a prompt-ready response and is described as the preferred first call for a reading. The calculation engine accounts for solar-term timing, birthplace longitude, historical time zones, and daylight saving information. Results can be requested in English with lang="en"; otherwise, values come back in Korean with Hanja.

Setup and configuration

Use the remote MCP URL in a compatible client. Claude.ai, Claude applications, and ChatGPT can add it as a custom connector, sign in to 24PLUS, and approve access. Claude Code and Cursor can use the URL with OAuth or a bearer token. A Claude Code example is:

For JSON-based configuration, set the server URL and an Authorization header containing the bearer token. Keys can be created through the 24PLUS account area. Connections can be removed from My account > Connected AI. The retired npm package and earlier local stdio deployment are not the current setup path.

Tools and capabilities

The cafe-mcp toolset includes:

  • saju_chart for detailed Four Pillars chart data.
  • luck_cycles for decade cycles and related yearly or monthly pillars.
  • saju_reading_context for a consolidated reading input.
  • manse_calendar and find_dates_by_pillars for calendar and date searches.
  • find_birthplace for city lookup and longitude correction.
  • lookup_term, search_classics, and read_classic for terminology and source texts.
  • chart_structure, useful_element, and luck_index for Day Master strength, useful-element candidates, and 1-to-5 cycle or period levels; these are Plus features.

Limitations and notes

The free plan allows 10 different charts per month, 300 tool calls per month, and 20 calls per minute. Free classical-text access is limited to three results, translation excerpts, and tables of contents. Plus is listed as launching soon and raises these limits while enabling the three engine-judgment tools and expanded classical-text access.

A previously viewed chart does not count again toward the monthly chart total. Birth data is used for calculation, while the service retains a one-way fingerprint for monthly chart counting rather than the birth date itself. The repository code is licensed under Apache-2.0.
