What the British Virgin Islands Company Registry MCP server does
The British Virgin Islands Company Registry MCP server connects an MCP-compatible AI client to The Company Atlas's registry of approximately one million British Virgin Islands business companies and limited partnerships. It supports checks on whether an offshore entity exists and can help identify when a company was incorporated.
Searches can use a company-name substring, an address substring, or an incorporation date range. Addresses commonly refer to registered-agent offices, so an address search can help locate records associated with a particular agent or office. Search filters are combined with AND logic, and at least one filter must be supplied.
The registry includes a company name and number for every returned record. Incorporation dates are available for roughly two-thirds of records, while addresses appear in about 3% of records. Former names may be available when retrieving an individual company.
How it works
The connection uses the hosted endpoint https://thecompanyatlas.com/mcp/bvi. Requests travel over Streamable HTTP, and access uses Google OAuth. The repository itself does not operate a separate server; the MCP connection is provided by The Company Atlas.
A client sends a search request to BVI_search_companies, which returns data along with the total result count and pagination fields. Results use an id formed from the VG prefix plus the BVI company number. For a known number, BVI_get_company returns the matching company and any recorded former names. The number can be supplied with or without the VG prefix.
Setup and configuration
Add the hosted MCP URL as a custom connector in Claude, Cursor, or another MCP-compatible client. When prompted, sign in with Google. No local process, package installation, or server environment variable is described in the provided setup instructions.
The available search parameters are a name query of 3–120 characters, an address string, incorporatedFrom, incorporatedTo, page, and limit. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD; page size defaults to 20 and can be set up to 50. The company lookup requires companyNumber.
Tools and capabilities
BVI_search_companies: searches using supported name, address, and incorporation-date filters with pagination.
BVI_get_company: retrieves one record by BVI company number and includes former names where recorded.
- Returns company names and numbers for all records.
- Provides incorporation dates and addresses when those fields exist in the registry.
Limitations and notes
The British Virgin Islands Company Registry MCP server does not provide entity type, status, directors, or shareholders. Incorporation dates and addresses are incomplete across the dataset, so a missing field should not be treated as proof that the information does not exist elsewhere. Search criteria must include at least one filter, and the search tool combines supplied filters with AND logic.
The service is hosted by The Company Atlas and requires Google OAuth through the MCP client. The supplied material does not describe a local deployment option, API-key configuration, or access outside an MCP-compatible client.
