Accesses public Bank of Russia currency, key-rate, inflation, and macroeconomic data through five MCP tools.
Copy the AI prompt to install this server into Claude Code, Cursor, or another agent — or use 1-click editor setup below.
One-click editor setup isn’t available for this listing yet — we don’t have a confirmed install command, and we’d rather show nothing than point your editor at the wrong package or host. Follow the project’s own setup instructions, linked above.
Inspect callable tools, capabilities, and parameters exposed to AI agents by MCP Cbr Rates.
get_rateGet the official Bank of Russia exchange rate for a single currency on a given date (or the latest published date if 'on_date' is omitted). Returns nominal, value, per-unit rate and effective quote date.
history_ratesGet the official CBR exchange-rate series for a single currency between two dates inclusive. Range capped at 366 days; for longer windows call repeatedly.
key_rateGet the CBR key-rate (ставка рефинансирования) time series for the requested range. Defaults to the most recent 30 days.
inflationGet monthly year-over-year consumer price index (CPI) inflation as published by CBR for the given year range (defaults to the previous and current year).
statisticsGet a compact macro snapshot: latest key rate, USD/EUR/CNY rates, latest YoY inflation, and the period the inflation refers to.
The atomno-labs/mcp-cbr-rates MCP server gives AI agents read-only access to selected public data from the Central Bank of Russia (CBR). It is intended for queries about Russian currency quotes, monetary policy, inflation, and a compact set of current macroeconomic indicators.
Five MCP tools are exposed:
get_rate returns one currency quote for a requested date, or the latest available quote when no date is supplied.history_rates returns a daily series for a currency between two dates.key_rate retrieves a CBR key-rate history for an optional date range.inflation returns monthly consumer price index data expressed as year-over-year percentages for an optional range of years.statistics combines the key rate, USD, EUR, and CNY rates, and inflation into one macro snapshot. The atomno-labs/mcp-cbr-rates MCP server runs locally and communicates with MCP clients over standard input and output. Its client layer calls public CBR endpoints for daily quotes, historical currency data, currency-code lookup, key-rate information, and inflation tables. No CBR account or API credential is needed.
Requests use asynchronous HTTP transport and retry automatically when the upstream service returns a server-side 5xx error. XML responses are parsed with defusedxml. An in-memory time-to-live cache reduces repeated requests: daily quotes use a one-hour default lifetime, while historical series and SOAP responses use a 24-hour default lifetime.
The historical currency query accepts a maximum window of 366 days. Longer periods require multiple calls, with the caller dividing the requested range into smaller intervals.
Install the PyPI package with pipx install atomno-mcp-cbr-rates, then start the atomno-mcp-cbr-rates executable. The README also documents installation with uv tool install atomno-mcp-cbr-rates and editable installation from a cloned source tree. The package requires Python 3.11 or newer.
Cursor and Claude Desktop can launch the executable as a stdio MCP server by setting their server command to atomno-mcp-cbr-rates. Claude Code can add the same command with claude mcp add.
Optional environment variables control runtime behavior:
MCP_CBR_HTTP_TIMEOUT sets the CBR request timeout in seconds.MCP_CBR_CACHE_DAILY_TTL sets the daily-quote cache lifetime.MCP_CBR_CACHE_HISTORY_TTL sets the historical-data and SOAP-response cache lifetime.MCP_CBR_LOG_LEVEL sets the Python logging level.Legacy CBR_* variable names remain accepted, but the MCP_CBR_* names are recommended. There are no secrets to configure.
The atomno-labs/mcp-cbr-rates MCP server is an unofficial wrapper and is not affiliated with the Bank of Russia. Its data depends on publicly available CBR services and the current structure of their XML, SOAP, and HTML responses. Changes to those upstream formats can cause individual tools to stop working until the package is updated.
All endpoints are read-only and free to access, but the project does not guarantee the freshness, accuracy, or suitability of returned data. The in-memory cache is local to the running process, so cached values are not shared between server instances.
