What atlas-mcp MCP server does

The atlas-mcp MCP server exposes Base-focused blockchain checks and a small set of text-processing tools to MCP-compatible AI clients. Its token analysis is intended for evaluating whether a Base token can be bought and sold, while its launch discovery tool finds recently deployed tokens that have already been checked.

The blockchain tools cover token contracts, wallets, and balances on Base. How it works

The client starts the package with npx, then calls the exposed MCP tools. Each request is paid automatically through the x402 protocol in USDC. Payment comes from the wallet supplied in the client configuration, so there is no account, API key, or subscription described in the setup.

atlas_token_check simulates a buy, transfer, and sell to test a Base token. Its response can include measured taxes, DEX liquidity in USD, the owner and supply split, proxy status, and whether mint, pause, or blacklist functions are present. atlas_new_tokens covers launches on Uniswap v2, Uniswap v3, and Aerodrome, with filters for launch time, sellability, and minimum liquidity.

The results are described as deterministic on-chain facts rather than financial advice. The connector does not receive the operator's Atlas keys; it signs payments using the wallet provided by the user.

Setup and configuration

Node.js 20 or newer is required. Add the package to an MCP client's configuration using an npx command pointing at the GitHub repository. The required ATLAS_WALLET_KEY value is the private key or secret key for the wallet that pays for calls.

An EVM key pays USDC on Base. A Solana base58 secret key pays USDC on Solana. The README recommends using a dedicated wallet with only a small balance; it states that 1–2 USDC is generally enough. ATLAS_URL can override the default public Atlas URL, and ATLAS_MAX_PER_CALL sets a per-call spending limit, defaulting to $0.05. The cap blocks charges above the configured amount.

Limitations and notes

The blockchain coverage described here is for Base, while payment can use an EVM wallet on Base or a Solana secret key on Solana. The token checks report observed contract and trading characteristics; they do not constitute investment advice or guarantee that a token is safe. Calls spend funds from the configured wallet, so its private key should be protected and the wallet should not be a primary account.
