The install command started, but didn't respond the way we expected when we tried to talk to it.

npx -y @pipeworx/mcp-arcgis-tigard

initialize succeeded but no response to tools/list.

This is an experimental automated check and can have false negatives — missing environment variables, a slow cold install, etc. It doesn’t necessarily mean something’s wrong. Last checked 2d ago.

Overview

Arcgis Tigard MCP server exposes City of Tigard, Oregon open geospatial data through ArcGIS-focused MCP tools. Search datasets to find relevant Feature Service URLs, inspect layer schemas, then query records with SQL-like filters, selected fields, sorting, and pagination. Use it for parcels, zoning, parks, and city-service data when an agent needs structured Tigard GIS results. It is available through a Pipeworx HTTP endpoint or as a local stdio package.

Use cases

  • Find Tigard parcel datasets by keyword
  • Inspect zoning layer fields and geometry
  • Query parks and city-service records
  • Filter GIS rows with SQL-like conditions
  • Retrieve paginated ArcGIS feature data

Key features

  • Searches City of Tigard GIS datasets
  • Inspects ArcGIS layer schemas
  • Queries Feature and Map Service layers
  • Supports filtering, sorting, and pagination
  • Returns attributes and geometry

How Arcgis Tigard works

What Arcgis Tigard does

Arcgis Tigard provides MCP access to City of Tigard, Oregon open geospatial datasets published through ArcGIS. It is intended for agents that need to discover and inspect local GIS layers before retrieving structured records. Covered subject areas include parcels, zoning, parks, and city services.

The Arcgis Tigard MCP server exposes three pack-specific tools. search_datasets finds datasets by keyword and returns identifying details such as the dataset name, summary, record count, owning organization, and Feature Service URL. That URL becomes the input for the other two tools.

How it works

A typical workflow starts with search_datasets, using a term such as parcels or parks. After selecting a result, call layer_info to examine its fields, geometry type, record count, and capabilities. Use query_layer when you need the actual attribute rows and geometry.

Queries support a SQL-like where expression, a comma-separated out_fields list, order_by, limit, and offset. To inspect a sample without narrowing the records, use where="1=1" with out_fields="*". Results from query_layer contain attribute rows and geometry when supplied by the ArcGIS layer.

Setup and configuration

The Arcgis Tigard MCP server can be connected through the Pipeworx streamable HTTP endpoint:

config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "arcgis-tigard": {
      "url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/arcgis-tigard/mcp"
    }
  }
}

It can also run locally over stdio with the published package:

config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "arcgis-tigard": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@pipeworx/mcp-arcgis-tigard"]
    }
  }
}

The local mode does not require a Pipeworx account and exposes only this pack's tools. The gateway endpoint adds shared Pipeworx meta-tools, including ask_pipeworx, discover_tools, search_within, and memory-related tools.

Tools and capabilities

  • Search Tigard GIS datasets by keyword.
  • Retrieve dataset summaries, ownership, counts, and service URLs.
  • Inspect layer fields, data types, geometry, record totals, and capabilities.
  • Query Feature Service or Map Service layers by URL.
  • Filter, sort, paginate, and select fields in query results.
  • Return GIS attribute rows with geometry.

Limitations and notes

Arcgis Tigard is an independent, unofficial integration and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by the City of Tigard or the upstream ArcGIS provider. query_layer and layer_info require a layer URL, so dataset discovery normally comes first. The gateway connection lists shared Pipeworx tools in addition to the three pack tools; the local stdio connection does not. The available data and layer behavior depend on the City of Tigard ArcGIS services.

Frequently Asked Questions about Arcgis Tigard

Arcgis Tigard is an MCP server that connects AI agents to City of Tigard, Oregon ArcGIS open geospatial data. Its main tools search datasets, inspect Feature or Map Service layer schemas, and query layers for filtered records, selected fields, sorting, pagination, attributes, and geometry.

Install it locally by configuring an MCP client to run `npx -y @pipeworx/mcp-arcgis-tigard`. The package communicates over stdin/stdout and does not require a Pipeworx account. You can instead connect to the documented Pipeworx HTTP endpoint.

First use `search_datasets` to find a dataset and its Feature Service URL, then pass that URL to `query_layer`. Supply `where`, `out_fields`, `order_by`, `limit`, and `offset` as needed. Use `where="1=1"` and `out_fields="*"` to sample records.

Yes, Cursor is named as a supported MCP client in the setup instructions. Add the Pipeworx endpoint to Cursor's MCP configuration, or configure the local stdio command with `npx -y @pipeworx/mcp-arcgis-tigard`.
