What AgentToolbox Docs Pack MCP server does
AgentToolbox Docs Pack MCP server accepts a list of up to five supported public documentation URLs and a literal query. It returns bounded matching excerpts in one JSON response, along with the source hash, character offsets, and headings associated with each match. The product is intended for agents that need focused documentation evidence with source-location metadata.
The service is hosted at https://agnttoolbx.agenttoolbox2026.workers.dev. Its documented product contract is available at /v1/products/docs-pack, with MCP discovery at /mcp. HTTP discovery, machine instructions, and the OpenAPI schema are also exposed through /v1/products, /llms.txt, and /openapi.json.
How it works
A caller submits documentation URLs, a query string, and an excerpt-size limit to the paid invocation endpoint. The example request uses POST /v1/products/docs-pack/invoke, a JSON body with version 0.1.0, and an idempotency key. The response process uses HTTP x402 v2: an unpaid request returns HTTP 402 with a payment challenge, after which an x402-capable wallet or client can settle and resubmit the request.
The listed price is 0.01 USDC on Base for each successful complete pack. A source without a match, or a failed source, is not settled. Payment verification is user-controlled; the implementation agent has not performed live payment verification. The repository also provides a fixed free example that does not require a wallet or payment.
Setup and configuration
For local development, the repository specifies Node.js 24 or newer and pnpm 11.19.0. The documented commands install dependencies, start development, run tests, and perform checks:
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
pnpm --dir platform install --frozen-lockfile
pnpm dev
pnpm test
pnpm check
pnpm worker:check
Runnable shell examples are included for the free and paid calls. Production callers need an x402 v2-capable wallet or client for paid requests, plus an idempotency key for the invocation shown in the README. No required environment variables are documented.
Tools and capabilities
AgentToolbox Docs Pack provides a query-matched documentation extraction capability rather than general web crawling. Supported output details include:
- Bounded exact excerpts
- Matched headings
- Source hashes
- Match offsets
- JSON responses for a complete pack
- Free example and paid invocation paths
The product is registered as io.github.agenttoolbox2026/docs-pack at version 0.1.0. The repository places platform code in platform/ and retains legacy material under the root src/, test/, and scripts/ directories.
Limitations and notes
AgentToolbox Docs Pack MCP server is limited to five supported public documentation URLs per request. Queries use literal terms, so the provided material does not describe semantic search, arbitrary websites, or private documentation access. Payment applies only to a successful whole pack, and unsuccessful or unmatched sources are not settled.
The public human counter records completed live paid purchases, including repeats, but does not identify unique agents. It excludes synthetic tests, mocks, failed or pending operations, replays, and self-purchases. The README does not identify client-specific setup requirements or document a license.
