## What WalkMyPlan MCP server does

WalkMyPlan MCP server lets an MCP-compatible client create and revise residential floor plans that can be viewed in a browser in both 2D and 3D. A model can build a house from described rooms, dimensions, layout, and footprint, including L-shaped, U-shaped, and courtyard arrangements. Plans can also begin from a DWG or vector PDF, or from a browser-based drawing page opened through a private upload link.

The resulting plan is editable rather than a static image. It can contain walls, doors, windows, named rooms, furniture, stairs, pools, parking areas, annotations, and other plan elements supported by the tools. Plans belong to the user’s account and remain private unless sharing is changed.

## How it works

The service runs remotely at `https://mcp.walkmyplan.com/mcp` using Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1. OAuth handles the initial connection and account creation, so there is no local server process or API key to configure. A client sends MCP tool calls to the endpoint, and the service returns plan information or a browser link for viewing the result.

There are three starting paths:

- Describe the house in conversation and use `build_house` to create the initial layout.
- Call `create_upload_link` to open a private drawing page, sketch a plan, and build it in 3D.
- Use the upload page for a DWG or vector PDF drawing. The README identifies DWG as providing the best results.

Plans use numbered rooms and compass directions. That structure supports targeted follow-up edits, such as widening a numbered room or moving a door on a specified wall. Read operations do not modify the plan; edits are recorded in revision history and can be undone.

## Setup and configuration

Add the remote endpoint to an MCP client using a server entry such as:

In Cursor, add the same URL under Settings → Tools & MCP. OAuth runs when the client first connects. No environment variables, local installation, or manually supplied API key are required for the documented remote setup. Per-client instructions are available at `https://www.walkmyplan.com/docs`.

## Tools and capabilities

The WalkMyPlan MCP server exposes 45 tools grouped around plan creation, inspection, editing, and sharing. Creation includes `build_house`, `create_new_plan`, `create_upload_link`, and `create_plan_from_url`. Understanding tools can return structure, answer questions about a plan, report status, provide a plan link, list plans, or download a PDF.

Editing tools cover walls; wall and ceiling heights; doors and windows; stairs; room names; floor text; markers; furniture; fixtures; pools; and parking. Furniture can be added, moved, rotated, resized, removed, or cleared from a room. History and account operations include undoing the last edit, listing or restoring revisions, renaming and deleting plans, changing sharing settings, and reporting a plan problem.

## Limitations and notes

The service is intended for visualization and planning. It does not validate structural safety or building-code compliance, so generated or imported layouts require appropriate professional review before construction decisions are made.

Uploaded drawings are converted into geometry and are not used to train AI models. The repository contains public metadata and documentation, while the MCP service itself runs remotely. Plans remain private unless the user explicitly changes their sharing settings.
