## Description
Natal charts, transits, history, ingress forecasting, aspects, composite & Davison charts — SQLite.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `uvx` (confidence: high):

```json
  "w8s-astro-mcp": {
    "command": "uvx",
    "args": ["--from","w8s-astro-mcp","w8s-astro-recalculate"]
  }
}
## Documentation
## What w8s-astro-mcp does
The w8s-astro-mcp MCP server provides astrology tools for creating and querying natal charts, tracking transits, casting charts for events, and examining relationships between profiles. It uses planetary-position calculations from Swiss Ephemeris through the pysweph package. Profiles can represent yourself, relatives, friends, or other people whose birth information you want to compare.
The server supports natal chart views, current and future transit analysis, composite charts, Davison charts, and placement of the current sky within a selected chart's houses. It also records transit lookups in SQLite, allowing later searches by date, planet, or sign. Electional features can scan a time window for conditions such as a direct Mercury or a non-void Moon when those criteria are requested.
## How it works
w8s-astro-mcp MCP server runs as a local MCP process and communicates with an MCP client over its configured command. The recommended launch method uses `uvx`, which retrieves the PyPI package and runs it in an isolated environment. A normal pip installation is also supported.
Chart inputs include local birth or event date and time plus a location. The server uses the location's timezone when processing birth, event, and electional times. By contrast, the time supplied to `get_transits`, `find_house_placements`, and `compare_charts` is Universal Time.
After creating profiles, you can designate an owner profile. Tools then use that profile by default unless another person or connection is specified. Relationship calculations require a group of at least two people.
## Setup and configuration
Install Python 3.10 or newer. For the recommended setup, add a Claude Desktop MCP entry with `uvx` as the command and `w8s-astro-mcp` as its argument, then restart the client. Alternatively, install the package with pip and invoke `w8s-astro-mcp` directly.
The default database is stored under `~/.w8s-astro-mcp/astro.db` on macOS and Linux, or under `%USERPROFILE%\\.w8s-astro-mcp\\astro.db` on Windows.
If upgrading an old installation, the project provides a migration script for the owner-profile column. Releases affected by the timezone issue can be repaired with `w8s-astro-recalculate`; its dry-run mode previews changes, while `--apply` backs up the database before recalculating. Saved event charts can be included with `--events`.
## Tools and capabilities
The documented use cases cover these operations:
- Create profiles and display natal charts.
- Retrieve current, upcoming, or historical transits.
- Distinguish applying and separating transit aspects and estimate exactness timing.
- Search stored transit lookups by date, planet, or sign.
- Compare profiles through synastry, composite charts, and Davison charts.
- Place current planetary positions in natal or relationship-chart houses.
- Cast charts for past or planned events.
- Scan future periods for requested electional conditions.
Transit readings can optionally return JSON output, which may help clients that need structured results instead of prose.
## Limitations and notes
The project requires an MCP-compatible client and does not document client-specific behavior beyond the Claude Desktop setup.
Stored data is local SQLite data, so profiles and lookup history are tied to the machine running the server. Users upgrading from versions before 0.12 should run the owner-profile migration, while users upgrading to the affected newer release should review and, if needed, recalculate stored charts.
