## What VoyageHacks MCP server does

VoyageHacks MCP server connects an MCP client to VoyageHacks, a travel publisher with guides covering destinations, flights, airlines, hotels, car rental, trains, airport transfers, eSIMs, travel VPNs, travel credit cards, and gear. Its content is available in 11 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese, and Chinese. Each tool accepts a language parameter that defaults to English, and the language versions are independently written rather than machine-translated.

The server combines editorial research with outbound travel links. Article tools support full-text search and Markdown retrieval. Gear tools search an editorial catalog of about 320 products and can assemble a packing kit from a trip description. Travel tools produce search or referral links for flights, hotels, rental vehicles, airport transfers, eSIMs, VPNs, American Express cards, and several categories in one booking request.

## How it works

VoyageHacks MCP server uses the live endpoint `https://voyagehacks.com/mcp` with stateless Streamable HTTP. Requests use JSON-RPC 2.0 over POST and return individual JSON responses; the service does not use sessions or an SSE stream. No authentication is required. A GET request returns 405 by design.

All 12 tools are read-only and declare read-only, non-destructive behavior. Responses include structured content and readable text, with an output schema for each tool. Vertical travel tools can also return up to four matching guides in the requested language, allowing an agent to present editorial context alongside generated links.

Three profiles control the exposed tool set. The default full profile provides all 12 tools. The research profile removes VPN and credit-card link tools. The guides profile keeps article search, article retrieval, gear search, and gear recommendations, while excluding booking tools. Profiles can be selected with `?profile=research`, `?profile=guides`, or the corresponding path form.

## Tools and capabilities

The VoyageHacks MCP server provides these operations:

- Search guides by language and optional section, or retrieve an article as Markdown with metadata.
- Search the curated travel gear catalog and create one-product-per-category packing kits.
- Generate flight, hotel, car and scooter rental, airport transfer, eSIM, VPN, and credit-card links.
- Request multiple categories for one trip with `get_booking_links`, filtered through `include`.

The gear catalog is an editorial selection, not a complete Amazon search. It does not return prices, ratings, review counts, or stock. Commercial responses disclose that some links are affiliate links.

## Setup and configuration

For a hosted connection, configure an MCP client with `https://voyagehacks.com/mcp` and select no authentication. The documented connection methods include Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini Enterprise. Claude Code can be configured with `claude mcp add --transport http voyagehacks https://voyagehacks.com/mcp`. The MCP Inspector can also be used to test the endpoint.

Self-hosting uses the repository's Cloudflare Pages Function. Deploy the `functions/` directory, point the site constant at the deployment that serves the language search and gear JSON files, and replace the affiliate identifiers with your own program IDs. A hosted deployment has no required environment variables.

## Limitations and notes

VoyageHacks MCP server returns published content and search links; it does not provide live fares, room rates, availability, star ratings, review counts, booking confirmation, or payment processing. Articles may be truncated at 60,000 characters. The service allows about 90 requests per minute per IP, limits request bodies to 256 KB, and permits up to 25 messages per JSON-RPC batch. Requests over the rate limit receive HTTP 429 with a `Retry-After` header.

The publisher is affiliate-funded, and qualifying bookings or purchases may generate commissions. The relevant commercial tools and responses include disclosure information. Article content is available without authentication or a paywall.
