## Documentation

## What Versionly MCP server does

Versionly MCP server connects Cursor to Versionly’s remote MCP endpoint at `https://mcp.versionly.dev/mcp`. Versionly watches third-party APIs used by GitHub repositories that you connect through the Versionly app. When it identifies a breaking change, it maps that change to files in the repository and can prepare a pull request containing an automatic fix.

The workflow is designed to keep a human review step in place. Versionly opens a pull request rather than merging changes directly, so the development team decides whether and how to apply the proposed update. Auto-fix pull requests require a paid plan.

## How it works

Install the official Cursor plugin from the Cursor Marketplace, or clone the repository and add it as a local plugin. When Cursor requests authentication, authenticate the Versionly MCP connector. Then connect the repositories you want Versionly to monitor in the Versionly application at `https://app.versionly.dev`.

After setup, the Cursor integration exposes Versionly’s MCP tools and a skill for monitoring vendor API changes through chat. The remote connection is handled through the Versionly MCP endpoint, while repository selection and connection are managed in the Versionly app.

## Tools and capabilities

The Versionly MCP server provides tools to:

- List repositories currently scanned by Versionly.
- Start scans of connected repositories.
- Open auto-fix pull requests for detected breaking changes, subject to the paid-plan requirement.
- Monitor vendor API changes through the included Cursor skill.

The supplied material does not specify scan scheduling, supported API vendors, programming languages, pull request customization, or the exact authentication flow beyond Cursor prompting for connector authentication.

## Setup and configuration

Use Cursor as the client for the provided plugin. Install the plugin from the marketplace or add a local clone, authenticate the connector when prompted, and connect repositories at `app.versionly.dev`. No environment variables or local service configuration are documented for this plugin. The repository identifies the remote MCP URL as `https://mcp.versionly.dev/mcp`.

## Limitations and notes

Versionly only monitors repositories that you connect in the Versionly app. The documentation describes pull requests as reviewable and explicitly states that nothing merges itself. Creating auto-fix pull requests is limited to paid plans. The provided README is specific to Cursor and does not document compatibility with other MCP clients.
