## Description
Collection of Google-native tools (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Tasks) for MCP with OAuth management, automated token refresh, and auto re-authentication capabilities.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `bunx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "google-mcp": {
    "command": "bunx",
    "args": ["--no-cache","google-mcp@latest"],
    "env": {
      "GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID": "",
      "GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET": "",
      "GOOGLE_OAUTH_TOKEN_PATH": "",
      "GOOGLE_CLIENT_EMAIL": "",
      "GOOGLE_PRIVATE_KEY": "",
      "GMAIL_USER_TO_IMPERSONATE": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID`, `GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET`, `GOOGLE_OAUTH_TOKEN_PATH`, `GOOGLE_CLIENT_EMAIL`, `GOOGLE_PRIVATE_KEY`, `GMAIL_USER_TO_IMPERSONATE` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What vakharwalad23/google-mcp does

The vakharwalad23/google-mcp MCP server gives MCP-compatible AI clients access to several Google services. Its Gmail tools can search messages, read email details, manage labels, create drafts, send messages, delete drafts, and handle attachments. Attachments can come from local paths or Google Drive file IDs, and downloaded files can be saved locally.

Calendar tools cover calendar discovery, default-calendar selection, event creation, event listing, event updates and deletion, and free-time searches. Drive tools support filtered and sorted searches, metadata inspection, reading content from supported text-based Google files, file creation and updates, deletion, and permission-based sharing. Tasks tools manage task lists and individual tasks, including titles, notes, due dates, completion state, updates, and deletion.

## How it works

The server exposes these Google operations as MCP tools for an AI client. It supports stdio transport as the default and can also run with streamable HTTP. HTTP mode provides health, session information, MCP request, and session termination endpoints, with automatic session handling through the MCP SDK.

Authentication can use either OAuth credentials or a Google service account. OAuth uses a client ID, client secret, and a token-file path. Service-account operation uses the service-account email, private key, and an impersonated Gmail user. The README instructs operators not to configure both authentication methods at once.

OAuth access tokens are refreshed when needed, and refreshed credentials are written to the configured token file. If a refresh token is no longer valid, the server can remove the old tokens, start a browser-based authorization flow, save replacement credentials, and reinitialize Google services.

## Setup and configuration

To run vakharwalad23/google-mcp locally, install Bun and create a Google Cloud project. Configure OAuth 2.0 credentials as a desktop application, add test users when using test mode, and enable API access for the Google services you intend to use.

A client can launch the package with `bunx --no-cache google-mcp@latest`. For OAuth, set `GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID`, `GOOGLE_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET`, and `GOOGLE_OAUTH_TOKEN_PATH`. For service-account authentication, set `GOOGLE_CLIENT_EMAIL`, `GOOGLE_PRIVATE_KEY`, and `GMAIL_USER_TO_IMPERSONATE`. On first OAuth use, a browser authorization flow saves tokens to the configured path.

Set `MCP_TRANSPORT=http` to use HTTP rather than stdio, and optionally set `PORT` to choose the listening port. The README also provides a one-click `.mcpb` package for Claude MCPB installation and identifies a hosted deployment through Fronteir AI.

## Tools and capabilities

- Search Gmail with queries, labels, and result limits.
- Send or draft messages to multiple recipients, including CC and BCC, with local or Drive attachments.
- Enforce Gmail’s 25 MB attachment limit and download attachments with conflict-safe filenames.
- Create, list, update, delete, and search Calendar events, including free-time lookups.
- Find, read, create, update, share, and delete Drive files.
- Create and maintain Google task lists and tasks.
- Refresh OAuth credentials or start a complete re-authentication flow.

## Limitations and notes

Google API access must be enabled for the services that the client will use. Service-account usage requires an impersonated Gmail user, while OAuth requires an initial browser authorization and a writable token-file location. The repository describes Google Contacts and additional capabilities as future plans rather than current documented tools.
