## Description
Filing-verified SEC EDGAR insider (Form 4), 13D, 13F & 8-K data, no sign-in. Verify any claim.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `uvx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "tradestar-insider": {
    "command": "uvx",
    "args": ["insider-signals-mcp"]
  }
## Documentation
## What TradeStar Insider MCP server does
TradeStar Insider MCP server gives MCP clients access to filing-verified data derived primarily from SEC EDGAR, with federal contract awards from USAspending. Returned records include parsed fields and a link to the source filing on sec.gov where applicable. Records that cannot be traced to a filing are excluded rather than estimated.
The data covers Form 4 insider purchases filed with transaction code P, activist Schedule 13D stakes, 13F fund position changes, recent 8-K events, and recent federal contract awards. Insider-buy data includes cluster activity, defined as two or more insiders buying the same issuer within seven calendar days or less, and purchases that are large relative to an insider's existing holdings.
A code-P transaction is not automatically an open-market purchase. The service exposes an `offering_context` flag for allocations such as offerings or private placements, and a `uniform_price_cluster` flag for clusters at one administered price. Option exercises, planned 10b5-1 sales, and purchases below $50,000 are excluded by design.
## How it works
The hosted MCP endpoint is available at `https://mcp.tradestarinsider.com/mcp` using Streamable HTTP and does not require authentication for the public surface. A local package named `insider-signals-mcp` acts as a small stdio proxy and can be started with `uvx insider-signals-mcp`.
The TradeStar Insider MCP server separates free discovery and verification access from keyed data access. Public operations include health information, current buys, clusters, and verification for insider, 13D, 8-K, and 13F claims. Keyed operations provide ticker and date-range queries, individual filings, fund changes, recent contract awards, and recent activist stakes.
The free tier is limited to 100 calls per day and generally serves the latest 30 days for discovery queries. Verification tools can check the full available history without a key. The paid RapidAPI plan provides 100,000 calls per month, full history back to 2024-01-02, exports, and the key for the paid MCP endpoint.
## Setup and configuration
For local use, install the Python package with `pip install insider-signals`, or run the MCP proxy without installing it through `uvx`. The client library uses only the Python standard library and has no runtime dependencies.
Claude Desktop can launch the proxy with a configuration using `uvx` as the command and `insider-signals-mcp` as its argument. Other MCP clients can connect directly to the hosted Streamable HTTP URL when they support that transport. No environment variable is required by the README. Keyed API access instead uses a RapidAPI key supplied when constructing the Python client or through the paid endpoint flow.
## Tools and capabilities
- Retrieve the service health and current dataset coverage.
- List the latest filing-verified insider purchases.
- Find multi-insider purchase clusters.
- Verify insider, 13D, 8-K, and 13F claims against held filings.
- Query by ticker or date range with keyed access.
- Retrieve filings, fund changes, activist stakes, and recent federal awards with keyed access.
## Limitations and notes
TradeStar Insider MCP server is a lookup and verification layer, not a return-prediction system. Four preregistered tests reported no distinguishable return edge, and the project does not claim that insider activity predicts prices.
Ingestion runs once per weekday. New filings therefore appear on the next business day rather than immediately. Coverage and date bounds can change; the health endpoint is the source of truth. A request for an older free-tier date indicates that the data exists but requires the paid plan; it does not mean no filing exists.
The service reports filing-derived values, but code P alone cannot establish that a purchase occurred on the open market. Clients should inspect the offering and cluster context before interpreting a signal.
