## Description
Income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, already assembled from SEC filings. No API key.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **list_companies** — Every covered company with its latest fiscal period and next expected filing. Resolves a company name to a ticker.
- **get_company** — Identity and coverage manifest: name, CIK, exchange, SIC industry, fiscal period held, source accession.
- **get_key_figures** — Headline figures for the latest reported period, each with its year-over-year change, exact amount and source accession.
- **get_financials** — Income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, segment revenue, per-share figures.
- **get_narrative** — Business, risk factors, MD&A, legal proceedings, subsequent events from the latest 10-K and 10-Q.
- **get_events** — Material 8-K filings over roughly the trailing five quarters.

## Documentation

## What ticker-scout MCP server does

The ticker-scout MCP server exposes SEC-derived company data through Model Context Protocol. It covers S&P 500 companies and major foreign issuers that file with the SEC, using their 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 20-F, 40-F, and 6-K materials as applicable.

Its data layer assembles income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, segment revenue, per-share figures, and company-specific metrics. It also provides business descriptions, risk factors, management discussion and analysis, legal proceedings, subsequent events, and material filing events. Each reported figure retains the accession number of its source, and tagged values can include a link to the relevant SEC filing location.

The service preserves each company's fiscal calendar rather than forcing periods into calendar-year assumptions. It accounts for 52- or 53-week years, non-December year ends, quarter labels, year-to-date values, and trailing-twelve-month periods. Foreign issuer values may be converted to US dollars using the rate recorded for the period, and per-share values may reflect the company's ADR structure.

## How it works

Connect an MCP client to `https://mcp.tickerscout.ai/mcp`. The primary discovery call, `list_companies`, can resolve a company name to a ticker and reports the latest fiscal period and next expected filing. `get_company` returns identity and coverage details, including CIK, exchange, SIC industry, available fiscal periods, and source accession.

Financial requests can target a ticker and, where supported, a period such as a fiscal year, quarter, latest period, year to date, or trailing twelve months. Tickers are case-insensitive, and both `BRK.B` and `BRK-B` resolve. Records are snapshots built from individual company filings, while a company's historical coverage is the union of its records.

The data keeps the names used in each company's filing. This matters for companies whose equivalent concepts use different labels. Missing disclosures are omitted and identified rather than treated as zero. Tools can also locate company-specific figures, compare companies, search filing text, and identify the source filing for a number.

## Setup and configuration

The ticker-scout MCP server uses a remote streamable HTTP endpoint and does not require an API key, account, or environment variable. Claude Code can be connected with:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http ticker-scout https://mcp.tickerscout.ai/mcp
```

Clients with an `mcpServers` configuration can use the URL directly:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ticker-scout": {
      "url": "https://mcp.tickerscout.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

For clients that only support stdio, the documented setup uses `mcp-remote` with the same endpoint:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ticker-scout": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["mcp-remote", "https://mcp.tickerscout.ai/mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

## Tools and capabilities

The six primary tools are:

- `list_companies`: Find covered companies, resolve names, and see filing expectations.
- `get_company`: Retrieve identity, coverage, fiscal-period, and source metadata.
- `get_key_figures`: Read headline figures for the latest reported period with year-over-year changes.
- `get_financials`: Retrieve statements, segments, and per-share data.
- `get_narrative`: Read business, risk, MD&A, legal, and subsequent-event sections.
- `get_events`: Review material 8-K filings over approximately the last five quarters.

The broader tool set supports individual figures, period history, company comparisons, segment and geographic breakdowns, filing searches, earnings releases, management changes, currency conversion, ADR details, fiscal calendars, stock splits, accession lookup, and filing retrieval. A `guide` tool is available when the appropriate operation is unclear.

## Limitations and notes

Coverage is limited to companies represented in the service's dataset, including S&P 500 companies and major foreign SEC filers. A requested period earlier than the available history is reported as unavailable with the periods that are held; a not-yet-reported period includes the next expected filing when known.

The service reports filed information rather than estimates. Company-specific statement shapes differ, so a field may be absent when the issuer does not disclose it. Standard figure tools resolve known naming variations, but they do not invent, aggregate, or estimate a value to fill a gap.
