## Documentation

## What The Bridge MCP server does

The Bridge MCP server gives an AI assistant tools for configuring a hosted product system around a SaaS application. Its covered areas are login, customer teams, billing, and feature flags. The hosted login system includes sign-up and sign-in, Google and Microsoft authentication, magic links, passkeys, MFA, enterprise SSO, password reset, and standard OAuth 2.0 flows.

For teams, the service supports customer workspaces, email invitations, roles, privileges, and team administration. Billing tools cover plans, prices, usage quotas, plan features, Stripe connection and payment setup, plus customer-facing plan and billing flows. Feature flag tools can target plans, customers, or rules and can schedule changes without a deployment.

## How it works

The Bridge MCP server is exposed at `https://api.thebridge.dev/mcp` over Streamable HTTP. Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 discovery, so a client opens a browser during the first connection. After signing in or creating an account, the user selects which applications the connection may access.

The tool collection contains 76 operations. They can create, read, update, and remove application configuration, inspect setup state, diagnose integration problems, verify login, and list events. Tools are marked read-only or destructive. Delete operations are disabled for browser-approved connections; enabling them requires an API token with delete privileges, and each deletion requires typed confirmation of the target.

## Setup and configuration

No package installation or local process is required. Add the service URL to an MCP client, then complete the browser authentication flow. Claude Code can add it with `claude mcp add --transport http bridge https://api.thebridge.dev/mcp`. Cursor uses an HTTP entry in `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, while VS Code uses an HTTP server entry in `.vscode/mcp.json`. Claude and Claude Desktop can add the URL as a custom connector. Gemini CLI installs the repository as an extension, and Cline has a separate installation guide.

The connection can be revoked from the Keys area of the The Bridge dashboard. API token tools are available for listing, creating, and revoking tokens; revoking a token is destructive.

## Tools and capabilities

The Bridge MCP server groups tools into these areas:

- Application selection and setup: list, create, select, and update apps; inspect environment information and integration guidance.
- Authentication: configure methods, SSO, password policy, redirect URIs, branding, and communications.
- Teams and access control: manage tenants, users, invitations, roles, and privileges, including test users.
- Plans and payments: manage plans, prices, quotas, features, Stripe connection, and payment setup.
- Feature flags: create and evaluate flags, change their state, schedule changes, import or export definitions, and scaffold an integration.
- Verification and tokens: check setup, diagnose integration and authentication issues, inspect events, and manage API tokens.

## Limitations and notes

The repository is not the hosted implementation; it contains listing files. The Bridge service has its own terms, while the repository listing files are MIT licensed. Access is limited to the applications selected during connection approval. Client-specific setup instructions, including guidance for ChatGPT, are available in The Bridge documentation.
