## Description
Read-only mindfulness games, guided practices, research, glossary and PanchaVikas resources.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **search_mindfulness_resources** — Free-text search across every public resource family at once (blog, games, practices, research, glossary, PanchaVikas), with optional `resource_type`/`category`/`audience`/`skill`/`age` filters.
- **get_mindfulness_resource** — Fetch one specific resource by its type + identifier (slug for most families, stable id for PanchaVikas).
- **find_mindfulness_games** — Find interactive mindfulness games, filterable by age, skill, audience, and max duration.
- **find_guided_practices** — Find free guided audio practices from the Stillness Library (never paid tracks).
- **search_mindfulness_research** — Search plain-language research summaries, filterable by topic and study type.
- **lookup_mindfulness_term** — Look up one glossary term by name, with an optional pillar filter.
- **find_panchavikas_resources** — Find public PanchaVikas resources (framework pathways and the public downloadable guide only — never private curriculum).

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "thc-open-mindfulness-mcp": {
    "url": "https://mcp.theholisticcare.com/mcp"
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What the THC Open Mindfulness MCP MCP server does

THC Open Mindfulness MCP MCP server makes The Holistic Care’s public mindfulness materials available to MCP-compatible clients. Its content includes interactive games, free guided audio practices from the Stillness Library, plain-language research summaries, glossary entries, and public PanchaVikas framework resources. Blog content is also included in the unified search results.

The server is strictly read-only. Its tools do not create, update, or delete content, and the PanchaVikas access is limited to public framework pathways and the public downloadable guide. Private curriculum and paid audio tracks are excluded.

## How it works

The production service uses Streamable HTTP at `https://mcp.theholisticcare.com/mcp`. Each MCP request is handled without a persistent session, and the server forwards ordinary HTTPS GET requests to `api.theholisticcare.com`. It does not connect directly to Sanity CMS, a database, or a payment system.

Results are returned in normalized shapes. List tools provide a `results` array and `count`; single-resource lookups return a `found` value and either a resource or `null`. List responses contain six items by default and can contain up to 20.

The upstream search endpoint supports text, limit, and offset. When a requested filter is not available there, the server may retrieve a broader result set and apply the filter locally. Tool descriptions document these cases rather than silently treating unsupported upstream filtering as exact.

## Tools and capabilities

THC Open Mindfulness MCP MCP server provides seven tools:

- `search_mindfulness_resources` searches blog posts, games, practices, research, glossary entries, and PanchaVikas resources, with optional type, category, audience, skill, and age filters.
- `get_mindfulness_resource` retrieves one item using its type and identifier. Most types use a slug; PanchaVikas uses a stable ID.
- `find_mindfulness_games` filters interactive games by age, skill, audience, and maximum duration.
- `find_guided_practices` finds free Stillness Library audio practices.
- `search_mindfulness_research` searches plain-language research summaries by topic and study type.
- `lookup_mindfulness_term` finds a glossary term, optionally constrained by pillar.
- `find_panchavikas_resources` lists public framework resources and the downloadable guide.

The server also publishes five informational MCP resources covering the service, taxonomy, usage guidance, content rights, and the public PanchaVikas framework. It does not provide MCP prompts.

## Setup and configuration

Connect any Streamable-HTTP-capable MCP client to:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thc-open-mindfulness": {
      "url": "https://mcp.theholisticcare.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

No headers, tokens, account, or client environment variables are needed for the hosted endpoint. For local development, clone the repository, run `npm install`, then `npm run dev`; the MCP endpoint is exposed at `http://localhost:3000/mcp`. The optional `THC_API_BASE_URL` setting changes the upstream API and otherwise defaults to the production REST API.

## Limitations and notes

The service depends on the public REST API for dynamic content, so API availability affects tool results. The five static MCP resources remain available without that upstream request. Content and software have separate rights: the repository identifies the code as MIT-licensed, while the supplied content remains all rights reserved.

Use `source_url` or `canonical_url` when available, keep result sizes small, and treat filters applied after search over-fetching as best-effort rather than upstream guarantees. MCP Inspector can test either the local or production endpoint using Streamable HTTP without authentication.
