## Description
Official TypeScript library for the Telnyx API

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
No confirmed install details yet, so no config is published. Follow the setup steps in the repository above.

## Documentation

## What telnyx does

The telnyx MCP server exposes an AI-facing interface to the Telnyx REST API. It is intended for assistants that need to inspect available API endpoints, send test requests, and consult documentation while helping integrate Telnyx into an application.

The repository is also the source for Telnyx's official TypeScript library, generated with Stainless. That library provides typed access to the REST API for server-side TypeScript and JavaScript applications. The MCP capability is the relevant part for agent workflows; the SDK remains useful when moving from exploration to application code.

## How it works

An MCP-compatible client starts the `telnyx-mcp` package with `npx`. The assistant can then use the server to explore Telnyx API operations and make requests against the API. Credentials are supplied through environment variables configured in the MCP client rather than embedded in prompts or source files.

The documented MCP setup uses the following command pattern:

```sh
npx -y telnyx-mcp
```

The available configuration examples include an API key, public key, client ID, and client secret. The exact credentials needed depend on the Telnyx operation being used. Keep these values in the client configuration and handle them as secrets.

## Setup and configuration

Configure the server in an MCP client that supports the standard command-based setup. The repository includes installation links for Cursor and VS Code, and notes that environment variables may need to be set directly in the MCP client.

The documented variables are:

- `TELNYX_API_KEY`
- `TELNYX_PUBLIC_KEY`
- `TELNYX_CLIENT_ID`
- `TELNYX_CLIENT_SECRET`

The server is launched locally through the npm package command.

## Tools and capabilities

The telnyx MCP server supports these documented agent activities:

- Browse and inspect Telnyx API endpoints.
- Make test requests to the Telnyx API.
- Use API documentation while integrating the SDK.
- Investigate API functionality before implementing it in TypeScript or JavaScript.

The underlying API library includes examples for phone-number search and ordering, messaging, inbound messaging webhooks, webhook signature verification, Call Control, AI, addresses, and connections. These examples describe the broader Telnyx SDK and should not be interpreted as a complete list of MCP-specific tool names.

## Limitations and notes

It also does not document permission boundaries, rate limits specific to MCP usage, or whether every SDK operation is exposed as an MCP action.

Requests still depend on valid Telnyx credentials and API behavior. For application code, the TypeScript library documents typed request and response definitions, API error classes, and configurable retries; those SDK features are separate from the MCP server interface. The repository excerpt does not state a license for the MCP package or library.
