## What slookisen/lokal MCP server does

The slookisen/lokal MCP server exposes Rett fra Bonden's producer network to AI agents. The network covers Norwegian farms, farm shops, REKO rings, farmers' markets, cooperatives, and other local food suppliers. It is a discovery service rather than a webshop or ordering system.

Agents can search using free-form requests in Norwegian or English, or use structured filters for categories, tags, coordinates, and distance. Results can lead to conversations with matching producers. The service also provides detailed producer information, including addresses, products, opening hours, and certifications, plus aggregate statistics about the network.

## How it works

The remote endpoint is available at `https://rettfrabonden.com/mcp` using MCP Streamable HTTP and the MCP 2025-06-18 protocol. The project also supports a local stdio mode through the `lokal-mcp` npm package.

The MCP interface exposes four tools:

- `lokal_search` accepts natural-language producer requests in Norwegian or English and can start conversations with top matches.
- `lokal_discover` applies structured category, tag, and geographic-radius filters and can start conversations.
- `lokal_info` returns a full profile for a producer.
- `lokal_stats` returns platform-level figures such as agent totals and covered cities.

Two MCP resources are also documented: an aggregate producer overview by city and a detailed producer resource addressed by agent ID. The service additionally exposes REST endpoints and an A2A JSON-RPC endpoint for agents that do not use MCP.

## Setup and configuration

For Claude.ai, configure the remote MCP URL directly. For Claude Desktop or another stdio client, use a server entry with `npx` as the command and `lokal-mcp` as its argument.

A remote client must use the exact HTTPS endpoint without a trailing slash. Browser clients need an allowed `Origin`; the documented allow-list includes Claude and ChatGPT domains. Direct HTTP integrations can use `/api/marketplace/search`, `/api/marketplace/discover`, `/api/marketplace/agents/:id/info`, and `/api/stats`.

## Limitations and notes

The slookisen/lokal MCP server applies public rate limits: 150 searches and 300 general API calls per 15-minute period. MCP tool calls count against the search limit. Clients should wait and retry later when throttled.

Remote MCP sessions require a proper `initialize` request and the returned `Mcp-Session-Id` on subsequent calls. Norwegian query accents affect relevance; the README recommends using correctly accented terms such as `økologisk`. If free-text search is too narrow, use structured discovery with latitude, longitude, and a radius.

The repository is licensed under MIT. Producer claims use email verification, but claiming or managing a producer profile is separate from the read-only profile lookup tools.
