## Documentation

## What Signal Lab Apify Tools MCP server does

Signal Lab Apify Tools MCP server routes agent requests to a focused group of Apify Actors. The available workflows cover several public-data tasks:

- Track Amazon products by ASIN or product URL, including price history and change detection.
- Generate Google Autocomplete suggestions for buyer-intent and country- or language-specific keyword research.
- Convert web pages, or bounded same-domain crawls, into Markdown for RAG and LLM ingestion.
- Retrieve public YouTube captions with timestamps and related metadata.
- Search Reddit posts and comments.
- Extract structured fields from public job-posting URLs.
- Collect restaurant menu items, prices, sections, and descriptions.

The job-posting workflow is designed for known public vacancy URLs rather than broad job-board discovery. Likewise, the other tools operate through the corresponding Actors and their defined inputs and outputs.

## How it works

Signal Lab Apify Tools MCP server is published in the Official Model Context Protocol Registry under `io.github.VZezelin/signal-lab-apify-tools`. A client connects to Apify's hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint with the selected tool list in the URL:

`https://mcp.apify.com?tools=signal_lab/amazon-price-tracker,signal_lab/google-autocomplete-keywords,signal_lab/website-to-markdown-crawler,signal_lab/youtube-transcript-scraper,signal_lab/reddit-search-comments,signal_lab/job-vacancy-scraper,signal_lab/restaurant-menu-extractor`

Apify manages the MCP connection and authentication flow. Each request is handled by the relevant Actor, so input fields and output behavior depend on that Actor. For direct automation, the repository also documents Apify API calls using an Apify bearer token and run-specific JSON inputs.

## Setup and configuration

Configure an MCP client with the hosted URL above and a server name such as `signal-lab`. The endpoint already identifies the seven published tools, so a local package installation is not required for the registered MCP connection.

For direct API use, authenticate requests with an Apify token. The repository also offers a portable Agent Skill, but installing that skill does not provide Apify credentials.

## Tools and capabilities

The tool bundle supports focused public-data workflows rather than a general-purpose crawler. Website extraction can return headings, links, metadata, and structured page content, with options such as maximum pages, crawl depth, domain limits, sitemap use, and robots.txt handling. Amazon runs can be scheduled on Apify and connected to webhooks, Make, or n8n for alerts.

The Google tool supports commercial modifiers such as cost, pricing, free, alternative, and API, along with language and country settings. Job extraction can return title, company, location, salary and currency when present, employment type, dates, source URL, and page-provided `JobPosting` metadata. Missing source fields are not fabricated.

## Limitations and notes

Signal Lab Apify Tools MCP server depends on Apify's hosted endpoint and the pricing of the individual Actors. Pricing may change, so the live Pricing tab for each Actor is the source of truth. The job scraper does not claim to search every job board or bypass login walls, and its results depend on fields exposed by the public page. The repository's custom-solution request path is available when the listed Actors do not match a required public-data workflow.
