## Documentation

## What Siglata MCP server does

The Siglata MCP server gives compatible AI agents access to business content held by Siglata. It connects an agent to company files, folders, spreadsheets, ERP exports, PDF documents, Word files, PowerPoint files, and company tables. The available operations are exposed as separate MCP tools, with each tool indicating whether it only reads data or can make a change.

File operations include uploading, finding, reading, renaming, moving, and trashing files or folders. Agents can also create one-time download links. For spreadsheets, an agent can query workbook cells using SQL and save modifications as a new edition rather than overwriting the previous file. Document search and reading cover PDF, Word, and PowerPoint text.

The service also supports records in company tables, including revisions and history. Organization administration tools let authorized users invite people and manage roles. Every action is associated with the signed-in person and recorded.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint is `https://www.siglata.com/v1/mcp`, using Streamable HTTP transport. A client connects to the endpoint and starts an OAuth 2.0 authorization-code flow with PKCE using S256. Depending on the client, authentication can use Client ID Metadata Documents or dynamic client registration. The user signs in through a browser and grants the requested access.

Each connection is tied to one organization and one person. The agent therefore receives the permissions of that user rather than a shared or anonymous account. The server’s `tools/list` response is filtered to the tools allowed by the user’s grant. Connections expire after 30 days without a call.

## Setup and configuration

The Siglata MCP server is hosted, so the repository does not need to be run locally. Add the service URL to an MCP-compatible client, then complete the browser sign-in flow when prompted. The repository provides setup links for ChatGPT, Codex, and Claude Code, while the Siglata documentation describes the available tools and OAuth scopes.

The registry identifier is `com.siglata/mcp`, and the listed server version is 3.0.2. Discovery metadata is available through the server card at `https://www.siglata.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json` and the OAuth metadata endpoints under `/.well-known`.

## Tools and capabilities

Available operations cover:

- File and folder management, including upload, search, reading, renaming, moving, deletion, and temporary download links.
- SQL queries against workbook cells and saving spreadsheet changes as new file editions.
- Text search and reading for PDF, Word, and PowerPoint documents.
- Company table records with revisions and history.
- Invitations and organization role management.

## Limitations and notes

The Siglata MCP server is not implemented in this repository. The repository contains the public listing, registry manifest, and setup guidance; the service itself is hosted by Siglata and its source code is not published here.

Access depends on the permissions granted to the authenticated user. A connection is limited to one organization and one person, and the server may expose only a subset of tools through `tools/list`. The README does not specify file-size limits, supported SQL dialect details, retention periods, or a local deployment option. Connections that receive no calls for 30 days expire and require reconnection.
