## Description
Pieces together films, shows, songs, books, quotes, places and studies from remembered fragments.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "search-fragments": {
    "url": "https://searchfragments.com/api/mcp"
  }
## Documentation
## What Search Fragments MCP server does
Search Fragments MCP server helps an agent identify something from incomplete or indirect clues. Supported subjects include films, television shows, songs, books, quotations, places, and studies. The service is intended for cases where a person remembers a pattern, relationship, scene, phrase, or other detail but not the name of the item.
Instead of requiring the agent to settle on one answer, the service can return three types of outcome: a resolved result with supporting confidence, a weighted list of possible matches, or no resolution when the available clues are insufficient. This makes it suitable for research and identification tasks where an invented answer would be worse than an incomplete result.
The README describes the service as free for basic use and available without signup. It also distinguishes these fragmented queries from ordinary fact lookups, for which a normal search may be faster.
## How it works
The hosted service is exposed through MCP over streamable HTTP. An MCP-compatible client connects to the endpoint and makes tool calls rather than installing and running a local repository. Search Fragments MCP server then processes the submitted fragment or claim and returns the corresponding result shape.
The design emphasizes declining to guess. A successful resolution includes a named answer and confidence based on evidence found. A partial result presents candidates in ranked order for the user or agent to compare. If the clues cannot support a result, the service reports that directly without claiming confidence.
A published comparison describes testing on 50 difficult, under-documented fragments against a baseline agent. The repository says the baseline produced three specific incorrect answers while Search Fragments declined on those cases; this is presented as a test result, not a guarantee for every query.
## Setup and configuration
There is no local installation for the hosted server. Add the following remote MCP configuration to a compatible client:
```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "search-fragments": {
      "url": "https://searchfragments.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```
Basic use does not require authentication. OAuth 2.0 using Authorization Code with PKCE is available for authenticated use. The service is listed as available in Claude and Cursor, and the same endpoint can be added to an MCP-compatible agent. The repository documents the hosted service rather than providing a self-hosted runtime.
## Tools and capabilities
Search Fragments MCP server provides three tools:
- `resolve_fragment` attempts to identify an item from remembered or partial clues.
- `verify_claim` checks a specific claim against available evidence.
- `submit_resolution_feedback` records whether a resolution was correct.
These tools cover both discovery and follow-up verification. Use `resolve_fragment` when the item itself is unknown, `verify_claim` when an answer or assertion needs checking, and the feedback tool when reporting the outcome of a resolution. The available subject areas are films, shows, songs, books, quotes, places, and studies.
The service is licensed under MIT. The repository also links to its privacy policy, terms, website, and contact address for service-related information.
