## Documentation

## What SamDesk Support MCP server does

SamDesk Support MCP server gives an AI assistant read access to selected conversations in a SamDesk support inbox. It is intended for support workflows where an agent needs to retrieve earlier customer messages, check what was agreed, identify unanswered conversations, or prepare a response for review.

The server does not send replies, modify conversations, or store drafts. The assistant can produce a draft in the chat, but the support agent must copy or send the response from SamDesk. This makes the server suitable for research and response preparation rather than automated outbound support.

It belongs in the 🎧 Support & Service Management category and is relevant to teams using SamDesk as a helpdesk or shared inbox.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint is available at `https://samdesk.nl/support/mcp` and uses Streamable HTTP as its MCP transport. An MCP client connects to that URL, authenticates with a SamDesk account, and exposes the available operations to an AI assistant.

Authentication uses OAuth with PKCE using the S256 method. The endpoint supports dynamic client registration and client ID metadata documents, so supported MCP clients can connect without manually creating application credentials. After authentication, the assistant can request inbox and conversation data through the server's tools.

Typical requests include asking what was agreed with a customer, finding conversations from a particular day, reviewing all conversations for one customer, or drafting a response to a recent email. Retrieved context is used to compose the draft in the assistant conversation; it is not written back to SamDesk.

## Setup and configuration

SamDesk Support MCP server is hosted by the publisher, so there is no local package to build or install. Configure an MCP client with the server URL:

Claude users can add it as a custom connector in Claude's connector settings. Claude Code can register it with the HTTP transport using the server URL. Cursor, VS Code, Cline, Windsurf, and similar clients can use an MCP configuration entry containing the URL and an HTTP server type. Cline uses the `streamableHttp` type in its configuration rather than `http`.

After configuration, sign in with the SamDesk account requested by the OAuth flow. The account determines which support inbox data the assistant can access.

## Tools and capabilities

The SamDesk Support MCP server exposes these operations:

- `support_account / list_inboxes`: Retrieves account information and the available inboxes.
- `search_conversations / get_conversation`: Finds conversations and reads their contents.
- `customer_conversations`: Retrieves the conversations associated with one customer.

Together, these tools support inbox discovery, conversation lookup, customer history review, agreement checking, and reply drafting. They do not provide message sending, conversation editing, or draft persistence.

## Limitations and notes

The server is read-only. It cannot send a message on the agent's behalf, change a conversation, or save a draft in SamDesk. Any proposed response must be reviewed and sent separately by the user.

Access depends on signing in with a SamDesk account and the inboxes available to that account.
