## What Saliga data tools (Apify) does

Saliga data tools (Apify) provides MCP access to a collection of Saliga Actors hosted on Apify. The repository’s `mcp/` folder is intended for using these Actors as tools from Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client. The available operations span the Search & Data Extraction category, along with document, media, and company-data workflows.

Supported Actor-backed tasks include making bulk HTTP requests and extracting selected response fields, converting documents to Markdown with tables and RAG chunks, reading text from images, detecting screenshot changes, extracting sitemap URLs, checking broken links, and identifying website technologies. Other Actors return keyword search volume, open jobs, audio transcripts, video scene information, UK Companies House profiles, downloaded files, merged and deduplicated datasets, or academic paper records.

## How it works

Each request is sent to an Apify Actor’s synchronous run endpoint. The Actor processes the supplied JSON input and returns its results, such as one output row per API request, Markdown content, OCR text with confidence, screenshot URLs, or a list of URLs and metadata. Inputs can contain URLs, keywords, companies, dataset IDs, crawl limits, country codes, extraction mappings, or other fields appropriate to the selected Actor.

The Saliga data tools (Apify) MCP server requires an Apify account and an API token. Apify’s free plan is sufficient to try the examples. Usage is billed according to the selected Actor’s Store pricing; the README lists example rates, while the Actor page is the current source for pricing.

## Setup and configuration

Create an Apify API token in Apify Console under Settings → API & Integrations, then make it available as `APIFY_TOKEN`. The repository contains copy-paste examples and an `mcp/` directory for MCP use. The README also includes separate `curl/`, `python/`, `node/`, and `n8n/` examples, but those are alternative access paths rather than MCP requirements.

For MCP use, configure the client with the URL supplied for the relevant MCP setup in the repository and provide the Apify token. The README specifically identifies Claude and Cursor as supported client examples and states that the tools can be used by any MCP client.

## Tools and capabilities

The Saliga data tools (Apify) collection includes:

- Bulk API calls with extracted response columns
- Document conversion to Markdown, tables, and RAG chunks
- Image OCR with confidence values
- Website screenshots and visual change percentages
- Sitemap extraction and broken-link reporting
- Website technology detection
- Keyword volume, CPC, and trend data
- Career-site job discovery
- Audio transcripts, SRT files, and chunks
- Video scene cuts and keyframes
- UK company profiles
- Bulk file downloads with public links, hashes, and ZIP output
- Dataset merging and deduplication with CSV or Excel export
- Academic paper search with DOI, citation, and PDF-link fields

## Limitations and notes

Results, supported input fields, and pricing depend on the selected Apify Actor. The listed prices are examples recorded when the README was written and may change; consult the Actor page for current pricing. The examples call synchronous endpoints, so the workflow is oriented around waiting for an Actor run to return its results. Questions and missing-feature requests should be raised in the repository or on the relevant Actor page.
