## Documentation

## What Rumoro MCP server does

The Rumoro MCP server gives an AI agent access to a Rumoro workspace and its mention-monitoring data. Rumoro tracks references to products, competitors, and topics across Reddit, X, Hacker News, GitHub, YouTube, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Stack Overflow, DEV, TikTok, Instagram, and news sites. Mentions receive a relevance score for the company being monitored.

The service is useful for research and monitoring workflows such as finding recent discussions, reviewing potentially relevant posts, comparing competitor activity, and checking performance over time. A Rumoro account is required. New accounts receive $5.80 in free credit, according to the repository instructions.

## How it works

Rumoro hosts the MCP service at `https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp` using streamable HTTP. There is no local package or process to install. An MCP client connects to the endpoint, then authenticates either through an OAuth browser flow or with a Rumoro API key sent as a Bearer token.

After authentication, the agent can call Rumoro tools against the connected workspace. The endpoint is intended for Claude, Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, and other clients that support remote MCP servers over streamable HTTP. The Rumoro MCP server therefore fits hosted-agent setups as well as automated environments that can provide a secret through an environment variable.

## Setup and configuration

Create a Rumoro account before connecting a client. In Claude Desktop or claude.ai, add a custom connector with the hosted endpoint and complete browser sign-in. Cursor uses an MCP entry whose `url` is the Rumoro endpoint. Claude Code and Codex provide command-line setup commands for registering the remote server and authenticating it.

For CI, servers, or clients without browser access, create an API key in the Rumoro dashboard and expose it as `RUMORO_API_KEY`. The key is passed as `Authorization: Bearer $RUMORO_API_KEY`; Cursor can reference the environment variable in its headers configuration. Keep this credential outside source control.

## Tools and capabilities

The repository describes 55 tools covering workspace monitoring and analysis. Supported operations include:

- Searching tracked mentions.
- Triaging relevant mentions.
- Listing and managing keywords.
- Managing alerts.
- Reading analytics.
- Reviewing activity across the supported sources.

Example requests include listing tracked keywords, retrieving relevant Reddit and Hacker News mentions for a time period, and comparing monthly mention totals for competitors. Exact tool names and parameters are documented at `docs.rumoro.dev/mcp`.

## Limitations and notes

Usage is prepaid rather than subscription-based. The listed pricing is $5 per keyword per month plus $0.008 for each matched mention, so monitoring scope and activity affect account balance. The hosted service is governed by Rumoro’s terms; the repository itself contains setup instructions and a registry entry released under the MIT License.

The repository does not contain the running service. Connection problems or unexpected tool behavior should be reported through the repository issue tracker or to the support email given in the README. Clients must support remote MCP over streamable HTTP, and browserless environments need an API key.
