## Description
1,500+ developer infrastructure deals, free tiers, and startup programs across 54 categories. Search deals, compare vendors, plan stacks, and track pricing changes. REST API and web browser at agentdeals.dev.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **list_categories** — Browse 52 categories of developer infrastructure deals (databases, cloud hosting, CI/CD, monitoring, auth, search, and more). Call this first to see what's available before searching.
- **search_offers** — Find free tiers, credits, and discounts for developer tools. Use when choosing infrastructure for a new project, comparing vendor pricing, or finding cost savings. Covers 1,500+ offers from vendors like AWS, Vercel, Supabase, Cloudflare, and more. Supports filtering by category, eligibility (public, startup, OSS, student), and sorting by recency.
- **get_offer_details** — Get full pricing details for a specific vendor's free tier or deal. Use include_alternatives to compare up to 5 similar vendors in the same category — ideal for recommending alternatives or evaluating options.
- **get_new_offers** — Check what developer tool deals were recently added or updated. Returns offers verified within the last N days, sorted newest first. Use for periodic checks to stay current on new free tiers and credits.
- **get_newest_deals** — See what's new in the AgentDeals index. Returns deals sorted by verified date (newest first), with days_since_update for each result. Use for periodic 'what's new' checks — pairs with monitor-vendor-changes prompt for a complete recurring usage loop.
- **get_deal_changes** — Check which developer tools recently changed their pricing or free tiers. Tracks removals, limit reductions, limit increases, new free tiers, and restructures. Use when advising on vendor lock-in risk or staying current on pricing shifts.
- **get_stack_recommendation** — Get a complete free-tier infrastructure stack recommendation for your project. Instead of searching category by category, describe what you're building and get a curated stack with hosting, database, auth, and more — all free tier. Covers SaaS apps, API backends, static sites, mobile apps, AI/ML projects, e-commerce, and DevOps.
- **estimate_costs** — Estimate infrastructure costs for your current stack at different scales. Pass the vendor names you're using (e.g. Vercel, Supabase, Clerk) and a scale (hobby/startup/growth) to get per-service cost analysis, free tier limits, free alternatives, and warnings about recent pricing changes. Use during project planning, code reviews, or deployment setup.
- **compare_services** — Compare two developer tool vendors side by side. Returns free tier limits, pricing tiers, key differentiators, and recent deal changes for both. Use when deciding between two options (e.g., Supabase vs Neon, Vercel vs Netlify).
- **check_vendor_risk** — Before depending on a vendor's free tier, check if their pricing is stable. Returns risk level (stable/caution/risky), pricing change history, free tier longevity, and more-stable alternatives. We track 52+ real pricing changes — use this to avoid vendors that have broken trust.
- **audit_stack** — Audit your current infrastructure stack for cost savings, pricing risks, and missing capabilities. Pass the services you use today. Returns per-service risk assessment, cheaper alternatives, gap analysis for common categories (databases, hosting, CI/CD, auth, monitoring, logging, email, search, feature flags), and actionable recommendations.
- **get_expiring_deals** — Check which developer tool deals, free tiers, or credits are expiring soon. Use to avoid service disruptions and find replacements before deadlines.
- **get_weekly_digest** — Get a curated weekly summary of developer tool pricing changes, new offers, and upcoming deadlines. Use for regular check-ins on what's changed in developer pricing. Falls back to 30-day window if fewer than 3 changes in the past week.

## Documentation

## What robhunter/agentdeals MCP server does

robhunter/agentdeals MCP server gives an MCP-compatible agent access to a catalogue of developer infrastructure offers. The catalogue covers more than 1,500 vendors and includes free tiers, startup credits, and other developer tool deals across many categories. Listings can include vendor descriptions, offer terms, source URLs, catalogue dates, and eligibility information.

The service is intended for infrastructure research and planning rather than provisioning. It can help an agent find database, hosting, developer-tool, AI, and other infrastructure offers; narrow results by eligibility; identify alternatives to a vendor; and review changes that may affect an existing stack.

## How it works

You can run the npm package locally with `npx -y agentdeals`, using stdin/stdout as the MCP transport. The hosted service is available at `https://agentdeals.dev/mcp`, so a client can connect without installing the package. Both approaches use the same MCP tool surface, and the README recommends local stdio for reliability and speed.

The catalogue can also be accessed without MCP through the REST API at `https://agentdeals.dev/api`. API endpoints cover offer search, categories, vendor details, new listings, pricing changes, stack recommendations, cost estimates, comparisons, vendor risk, and stack audits. This makes the underlying data usable from scripts or applications as well as from an agent.

## Setup and configuration

For local use, add an MCP server entry with `npx` as the command and `-y agentdeals` as its arguments. For remote use, configure the server URL as `https://agentdeals.dev/mcp`. The README provides examples for Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code, including project configuration files such as `.mcp.json`, `.cursor/mcp.json`, and `.vscode/mcp.json`.

Claude Code also supports installation with `claude plugin install robhunter/agentdeals`. Claude Desktop can install the packaged `.mcpb` extension from the project releases or through its Extensions settings. No environment variables are documented as required.

## Tools and capabilities

- `search_deals` searches by keyword, category, vendor, eligibility, or catalogue date. It can list categories, paginate results, sort them, and return vendor alternatives.
- `plan_stack` supports recommendation, cost-estimation, and infrastructure-audit modes for a stated use case or service list.
- `compare_vendors` compares two vendors or checks one vendor for pricing risk.
- `track_changes` reports pricing changes, upcoming expirations, and new deals. Calling it without parameters returns a weekly digest.
- `get_referral_code` returns a stored referral link and its conditions when one exists for the requested vendor.

Eligibility filters include public, accelerator, open source, student, fintech, geographic, and enterprise categories. Search results can be constrained with an ISO date and paginated with limit and offset values.

## Limitations and notes

robhunter/agentdeals MCP server does not provision services or apply deals to vendor accounts; its documented role is discovery, comparison, planning, and tracking. Referral links are available only for a handful of vendors held in its catalogue. Pricing and offer information is catalogue data: each listing records when the vendor page was last read, while the published freshness endpoint reports recent confirmation counts. Developers should verify current terms on the linked vendor page before making a purchase or architecture decision.

The REST API is a separate access method and does not replace the MCP configuration when an MCP client is required.
