## Description
Hire humans for tasks AI can't do. Fair trade pay floors, prepaid escrow, ethical receipts.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **post_task** — Post a task for a human worker to complete.
- **check_task** — Check task status and retrieve the result when complete.
- **list_capabilities** — List available task categories, fair trade pay minimums, worker availability, and platform status. No parameters required.
- **cancel_task** — Cancel a previously posted task.
- **send_task_message** — Send a message to the human worker on one of your tasks.
- **list_task_messages** — List all messages on a task (oldest first). Marks worker messages as read.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "reversecentaur-mcp": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","reversecentaur-mcp"],
    "env": {
      "REVERSECENTAUR_API_KEY": "",
      "REVERSECENTAUR_API_URL": "",
      "REVERSECENTAUR_MOCK_MODE": "",
      "REVERSECENTAUR_OAUTH": "",
      "PORT": "",
      "MCP_PUBLIC_URL": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `REVERSECENTAUR_API_KEY`, `REVERSECENTAUR_API_URL`, `REVERSECENTAUR_MOCK_MODE`, `REVERSECENTAUR_OAUTH`, `PORT`, `MCP_PUBLIC_URL` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What reversecentaur-mcp MCP server does

reversecentaur-mcp MCP server lets an AI agent submit work to Reverse Centaur, where a human worker completes tasks that may require access to the physical world, personal judgment, or human communication. Supported task categories include verification, research, physical action, creative judgment, data validation, communication, legal identity, sensory evaluation, and other work.

The service applies category-specific pay minimums and enforces a minimum effective hourly rate of $30 per hour. Worker identity is private by default.

The server exposes documentation resources for fair-trade standards and getting started guidance. Use `list_capabilities` to inspect available categories, pay minimums, worker availability, and platform status before creating a task.

## How it works

An agent starts with `post_task`, providing a title, detailed instructions, category, and USD budget. Optional fields set a deadline, expected output type, or webhook callback. The deadline defaults to 24 hours and must be between 15 minutes and 43,200 minutes. Supported deliverable formats are text, JSON, image, file, and confirmation.

The returned task ID is used with `check_task` to retrieve status and the completed result. Agents can use `send_task_message` to contact the worker and `list_task_messages` to read the conversation in chronological order. Reading messages marks worker messages as read. `cancel_task` stops a task using its ID and can include a cancellation reason; cancellation may incur fees.

All tools include MCP safety annotations. Posting and cancelling are marked destructive because they can create or cancel paid work, while checking status, listing capabilities, and reading messages are marked read-only.

## Setup and configuration

Install the package globally with npm or run it through npx. For local MCP clients, start `npx reversecentaur-mcp` over stdio. The README provides configurations for Claude Desktop and Cursor, and says other stdio-compatible clients can use the same command. For remote access, run `npx reversecentaur-mcp-http`; the default MCP endpoint is `http://localhost:3001/mcp` and the default port is 3001.

Set `REVERSECENTAUR_API_KEY` to an API key from Reverse Centaur. `REVERSECENTAUR_API_URL` can replace the default API base URL for self-hosted or staging deployments. `REVERSECENTAUR_MOCK_MODE=true` enables in-memory fake data without API calls, which is useful for development. HTTP deployments can enable OAuth with `REVERSECENTAUR_OAUTH=true`; `PORT` and `MCP_PUBLIC_URL` control the HTTP port and public OAuth metadata URL.

## Tools and capabilities

The reversecentaur-mcp MCP server provides six task-management tools:

- `post_task` creates paid human work with required title, description, category, and budget fields.
- `check_task` checks progress and returns a result when available.
- `list_capabilities` reports platform status, worker availability, categories, and pay floors without parameters.
- `cancel_task` cancels an existing task and optionally records a reason.
- `send_task_message` sends a message to the assigned worker.
- `list_task_messages` returns task messages from oldest to newest.

Mock mode tracks tasks only for the current session. It returns realistic fake data, provides mock task IDs, and returns a mock completed result when the corresponding ID is checked.
