## Description
AI podcast editing as a service. Upload raw audio or submit a URL, get back edited episodes with filler words removed, noise reduction, transcripts, show notes, and social clips. Includes webhooks for automation.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **barevalue_pricing** — Get current Barevalue pricing for all subscription tiers and services. Returns AI editing tier details (minutes, monthly cost, overage rates), human editing rates, supported formats, and capabilities. No authentication required.
- **barevalue_api_status** — Check Barevalue API health, queue depth, and estimated processing times. Use this to verify the service is operational before submitting orders. No authentication required.
- **barevalue_account** — Get Barevalue account information including credit balance, AI subscription status, bonus minutes, and pricing. Use this to check available balance before submitting orders.
- **barevalue_estimate** — Calculate the cost of an AI podcast editing order before submission. Returns breakdown of AI bonus minutes, subscription minutes, credits, and payment required.
- **barevalue_upload** — Upload an audio file for AI podcast editing. Handles getting a presigned S3 URL and uploading the file. Returns order_id and s3_key needed for submission. Maximum file size: 750MB.
- **barevalue_validate** — Pre-check an audio file from a URL before submission. Validates speech content (minimum 10%) and detects music-only content. Does NOT charge credits. Use this for external URLs before submitting. Note: For files uploaded via barevalue_upload, validation is not needed - go directly to submit.
- **barevalue_submit** — Submit an uploaded file for editing. Two modes: editing_mode="ai" (default) does AI podcast editing of an audio file, billed against credits/subscription minutes (audio only, up to 60 min). editing_mode="human" routes to a professional human editor for audio OR video, billed at standard per-minute rates (credits first, then the default card on file is charged for the remainder); use this for white-label/human-only accounts and for video. Requires order_id and s3_key from barevalue_upload.
- **barevalue_submit_url** — Submit a podcast for AI editing using a public URL. The file will be downloaded and processed. Useful for files hosted on Dropbox, Google Drive (with public link), or other file hosting services.
- **barevalue_status** — Check the status of an order. Returns current processing state and, when complete, download URLs for edited audio, transcript PDF, transcript DOCX, and show notes.
- **barevalue_list_orders** — List recent orders with their status. Useful for checking on multiple orders or finding a specific order.
- **barevalue_webhooks_list** — List all configured webhooks for your account. Webhooks send notifications when orders complete, fail, or are refunded.
- **barevalue_webhook_create** — Create a new webhook to receive notifications. Returns the webhook with its signing secret (shown only once - save it!).
- **barevalue_webhook_update** — Update an existing webhook URL, events, or active status.
- **barevalue_webhook_delete** — Delete a webhook. This cannot be undone.
- **barevalue_webhook_rotate_secret** — Generate a new signing secret for a webhook. The old secret will immediately stop working. Returns the new secret (shown only once).

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "barevalue-mcp": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","barevalue-mcp"],
    "env": {
      "BAREVALUE_API_KEY": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `BAREVALUE_API_KEY` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What quietnotion/barevalue-mcp does

The quietnotion/barevalue-mcp MCP server exposes Barevalue’s podcast editing workflow through MCP tools. It can submit local audio files or publicly hosted media for processing, check account balances and estimated costs, monitor orders, and retrieve completed outputs.

AI editing removes filler words, long pauses, and false starts. Completed orders can include edited audio, transcript files in PDF and DOCX formats, timestamped show notes, and AI-selected social media clips. Human editing is also available through the submission workflow for accounts that support it; this mode accepts audio or video and uses the account’s credits and payment method according to Barevalue’s billing rules.

This server belongs in the 🎙️ Podcasts category and is suited to agents that need to coordinate recurring episode processing rather than manually operate the Barevalue website.

## How it works

For a local recording, call `barevalue_upload` with a file path. The upload returns an `order_id` and `s3_key`, which are then passed to `barevalue_submit`. Supported upload formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, and OGG, with a maximum file size of 750 MB.

For an externally hosted file, use `barevalue_validate` to check a public URL before submission. Validation checks for sufficient speech content and music-only files without charging credits. Files uploaded through `barevalue_upload` do not require this step. `barevalue_submit_url` can submit a public URL directly for AI processing.

Before submitting, `barevalue_account` and `barevalue_estimate` can show available minutes, credits, subscription details, and expected charges. After submission, `barevalue_status` reports processing progress and provides output URLs when the order is complete. `barevalue_list_orders` supports reviewing recent orders with pagination and status filtering.

## Setup and configuration

The quietnotion/barevalue-mcp MCP server can run through `npx -y barevalue-mcp` or from a global npm installation. Configure the MCP client to launch the command and provide `BAREVALUE_API_KEY` in the environment. The key is created in Barevalue account settings and starts with `bv_sk_`. `BAREVALUE_API_URL` can optionally override the default API endpoint.

A Barevalue account is required to submit orders. The Basic plan is described as free and includes monthly minutes and orders; paid plans provide additional allowances and features. API communication uses HTTPS. Presigned upload URLs expire after 30 minutes, and the API permits up to 10 requests per minute per key.

## Tools and capabilities

The quietnotion/barevalue-mcp MCP server includes tools for:

- Reading current Barevalue pricing, account balances, subscription status, and API health.
- Estimating order costs before submission.
- Uploading local audio and submitting files or public URLs.
- Selecting AI or human editing modes where supported.
- Checking individual order status and listing recent orders.
- Creating, updating, listing, deleting, and rotating webhook secrets.

Webhooks can notify an application when an order is completed, fails, or is refunded. New webhook signing secrets are shown only once, and rotating a secret immediately invalidates the previous one.

## Limitations and notes

AI submission is audio-only and supports audio up to 60 minutes. Human submission supports audio or video, but availability depends on the account configuration. External URLs must be publicly accessible for Barevalue to download them. Insufficient subscription minutes or credits cause submission to fail, and a file that exceeds 750 MB cannot be uploaded.

Typical order processing takes 10–30 minutes, while local file uploads have a five-minute timeout. Common failures include invalid or revoked API keys, insufficient credits, failed validation, oversized files, and rate limiting. Webhook consumers should verify HMAC-SHA256 signatures and securely store each newly returned secret.
