## Description
Free tools: x402 endpoint directory + probe, on-chain x402 demand signal, sudoku, API pricing.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **x402_search** — Use this to find a pay-per-call x402 API for a given task, network or price cap before calling it (mostly USDC on Base; check each row's network and asset, some are testnet or other assets). Searches a health-probed directory of live x402 pay-per-call HTTP endpoints on Base, Solana and other networks (x402_index_stats gives the current count). Returns id, resource URL, method, network, USD price, description, 30-day call/payer counts and our own uptime/probe data. Data is re-crawled a few times a day, not real-time. Quietforge operates this directory and also operates some listed endpoints (source=quietforge) under the same per-host cap as every operator; ordering is by 30-day usage, then liveness, then freshness, never by operator.
- **x402_service** — Use this to check whether one endpoint from x402_search is reliable enough to pay: its record plus its last 20 health probes (status code, latency, alive) and uptime across them.
- **x402_index_stats** — Use this to see how much this index covers (it is a subset of the x402 market, not all of it) and to sanity-check x402_search coverage before relying on it. Summary of the index: totals, how many endpoints answered on the last probe, counts per network and per source, and when the crawl ran.
- **x402_demand** — Use this to answer "is anyone actually paying for x402 APIs today" with settled on-chain numbers instead of listings. Market-level demand signal for the x402 ecosystem, verified against on-chain USDC settlement on Base rather than self-reported call counts: how many seller addresses were paid in the last 24h, total USD settled, and the distribution of sellers by payment count. Free and aggregate-only; the per-seller breakdown (distinct payers per address; payer counts include sampler/grader wallets that pay many sellers once, so read them as an upper bound on customers) is the paid GET /v1/x402/demand route. Refuses to answer rather than serve a stale snapshot.
- **x402_probe** — Use this to check a URL you are about to pay (or one you operate) for a well-formed x402 challenge before sending funds; a challenge is no guarantee the service delivers. Makes ONE live unpaid request to a public http(s) URL and reports whether it is an x402 endpoint: status code, latency, alive flag, whether a PAYMENT-REQUIRED challenge came back and the parsed USD price. GET only, except that a URL already in the index is probed with its listed method. Public hosts only (redirects re-checked), delisted hosts never contacted, results cached 60 s, 3 probes per host per 5 min and 30 per minute overall.
- **sudoku_puzzle** — Use this when a user wants a sudoku to play or print, or an app needs a verified puzzle at a named difficulty. Generates ONE sudoku puzzle with a unique solution, 180-degree symmetry, graded by the solving techniques it needs (easy | medium | hard | expert). Returns 81-char puzzle and solution strings (row by row, 0 = empty), given count and technique list. Deterministic when a seed is supplied. 20 per minute shared by all clients.
- **quietforge_pricing** — Price-check Quietforge's paid x402 HTTP routes before paying (free read-only list, not tools here): convert docx, xlsx, pptx, csv to pdf; PDF text; URL/HTML to PNG; sudoku books; manuscript typesetting; crosswords; family trees from GEDCOM; dataset quality audits; x402 index API. USD prices, pay-to address, how an x402 client pays.

## Documentation

## What Quietforge x402 Tools does

Quietforge x402 Tools MCP server provides a remote MCP interface for finding and evaluating pay-per-call x402 HTTP endpoints. Its directory includes services on Base, Solana, and other networks, with each result carrying details such as URL, method, network, USD price, recent usage, and probe data. The directory is health-checked and recrawled several times a day, so it is not a real-time market listing.

The server also exposes aggregate demand information based on on-chain USDC settlement on Base, a free price list for Quietforge’s own paid routes, and a Sudoku generator. Every MCP tool is free to call and does not require an account or API key.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint uses streamable HTTP at `https://qf-api.quietforge-studio.workers.dev/mcp`. Requests are stateless: each POST is self-contained and does not require a session ID. The response format is JSON.

Directory metadata is aggregated from public Coinbase CDP Bazaar and PayAI discovery APIs. Quietforge supplies the crawl, probe, and uptime information. Its own endpoints may appear in search results with `source=quietforge`; those rows use the same per-host limits as other operators. Search ordering is based on 30-day usage, liveness, and freshness rather than operator ownership.

The demand tool measures settled Base USDC activity for seller addresses represented in the crawled index. It is a lower bound for the broader x402 market, not a complete market statistic.

## Setup and configuration

Connect a streamable-HTTP-capable MCP client to the hosted URL. Claude Code can be configured with:

```sh
claude mcp add --transport http quietforge https://qf-api.quietforge-studio.workers.dev/mcp
```

A client using MCP JSON configuration can use:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "quietforge": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://qf-api.quietforge-studio.workers.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Clients that only support stdio, including Claude Desktop, need an `mcp-remote` bridge. No environment variables, account, or API key are required. The service logs tool names and the target host for probes; because the connection is stateless, it does not receive or store client identity.

## Tools and capabilities

- `x402_search` searches the indexed x402 directory, with paging up to 100 rows.
- `x402_service` returns one indexed endpoint and its last 20 probe results, including status, latency, alive state, and calculated uptime.
- `x402_index_stats` reports index totals, currently responding endpoints, network and source counts, and crawl time.
- `x402_demand` reports recent aggregate Base USDC settlement, including sellers paid, total USD, and seller payment-count distribution.
- `x402_probe` makes one unpaid GET-style request to a public URL and checks for an x402 `PAYMENT-REQUIRED` challenge and parsed price.
- `sudoku_puzzle` creates one solver-verified Sudoku with a unique solution, 180-degree symmetry, a difficulty grade, and optional seed reproducibility.
- `quietforge_pricing` lists Quietforge paid x402 routes, their USD prices, payment address, network, and payment procedure.

## Limitations and notes

Quietforge x402 Tools MCP server does not run as a standalone checkout from the repository. The repository contains the hosted tool module and registry manifest, while the larger FastAPI application, crawler, prober, and Sudoku generator are outside the repository.

`x402_probe` contacts a third-party public host and is not read-only. It follows public-host restrictions, rechecks redirects, avoids delisted hosts, caches results for 60 seconds, and limits probing to three requests per host per five minutes and 30 per minute overall. A valid challenge does not prove that the paid service will deliver usable output.

The directory is only a subset of the x402 ecosystem. `x402_demand` refuses to return snapshots older than 72 hours, and its seller and payer interpretation should not be treated as a complete customer count. Sudoku generation is shared across clients at 20 requests per minute. The repository code is licensed under MIT.
