## Description
Publish AI-made web pages and share files as short links from any MCP client.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **upload_file** — Put a file online and get a short public link. Pass text directly, or base64 with encoding="base64" for binary files (images, PDFs, zips). An .html file becomes a web page; a .zip containing index.html becomes a website. Returns the URL and expires_at; anonymous callers also get a manage_token. Status may be "checking"/"publishing" (call get_link before sharing) or "unpublished" (not published). Limit 20 MB inline; use create_upload_session for bigger files.
- **create_upload_session** — For files too large to send inline: reserves a link and returns a one-time upload_url. PUT the raw bytes there (e.g. give the user the returned curl command), then poll get_link with the slug (and manage_token) until status is "live".
- **publish_site** — Put a web page or small static site you created online instantly. Pass {"files": {"index.html": "<!doctype html>…", "style.css": "…", "app.js": "…"}} (paths relative to the site root; index.html required). Images can go in base64_files. Returns the public URL. Pages are served sandboxed on their own link.
- **get_link** — Status of a link: live, checking, publishing, unpublished, in_review, removed (by moderation: removed_reason + appeal_url), expired or awaiting_upload; plus expiry, size and views (null when the account’s plan has no view counts). Anonymous callers pass the manage_token they got on creation.
- **list_links** — List the links in the connected Put It Online account (newest first, permanent first). Requires a connected account.
- **delete_link** — Permanently delete a link and its files. Account owners can delete their links; anonymous callers need the manage_token. This cannot be undone.
- **set_password** — Protect a link with a password (visitors must enter it), or pass null to remove it. Requires a connected account whose plan includes passwords; otherwise returns a subscription_required error.
- **make_permanent** — Turn an expiring link into a permanent one (uses one of the plan's permanent slots; see get_account). Requires a connected account whose plan includes permanent links.
- **extend** — Restart an expiring link's expiry clock (also brings back a recently expired link). Permanent links are unaffected. Requires a connected account whose plan includes extending.
- **get_account** — The connected account's plan, permanent-link slots used/available, size limit and features.

## Documentation

## What Put It Online MCP server does

Put It Online MCP server gives an MCP client tools for publishing generated content and managing the resulting links. It can turn HTML into a web page, publish a small static site with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images, or expose text and binary files through short public URLs. ZIP archives containing an `index.html` can also be served as websites.

The service accepts anonymous requests as well as authenticated account requests. Anonymous links last seven days and include a private management token. Account connections allow users to list their links and use account features when included in their plan. Published pages run sandboxed on their own links, and uploads go through a safety check before becoming live.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint uses Streamable HTTP:

For smaller content, `upload_file` accepts text directly or base64-encoded bytes. Inline uploads are limited to 20 MB. For larger files, `create_upload_session` reserves a link and supplies a one-time upload URL; the raw bytes can then be sent with an HTTP PUT. The client can poll `get_link` until the upload reaches `live`.

`publish_site` receives a file map with paths relative to the site root. The map must include `index.html`; images can be supplied separately as base64 data. Link status can be `checking`, `publishing`, `unpublished`, `in_review`, `removed`, `expired`, or `awaiting_upload`, in addition to `live`. Status responses can include expiry, size, views, and moderation details. View counts may be null when the account plan does not provide them.

## Setup and configuration

Put It Online MCP server requires no installation when used through its remote endpoint. Connect a compatible client to the URL and authenticate with OAuth 2.1 or an API key if account access is needed. OAuth uses PKCE and supports client ID metadata documents or dynamic client registration. Anonymous use is available without authentication.

Clients that choose account authentication during connection can use:

A bearer API key can also be sent in the `Authorization` header. The repository documents remote setup for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Zed, and Cline. A local stdio wrapper is available through an npm package archive and requires Node 20 or newer; `PUTIT_URL` selects the service URL, and `PUTIT_API_KEY` enables account mode.

## Tools and capabilities

- `upload_file`: Upload text or base64 binary data and return a short link.
- `create_upload_session`: Prepare an upload URL for files above the inline size limit.
- `publish_site`: Publish a small static site with an HTML entry point and optional assets.
- `get_link`: Inspect status, expiry, size, views, and moderation information.
- `list_links`: List links in the connected account, newest first.
- `delete_link`: Permanently remove a link and its files.
- `set_password`: Add or remove link protection on eligible plans.
- `make_permanent`: Convert an expiring link using an available permanent-link slot.
- `extend`: Restart the expiry period for an eligible link.
- `get_account`: Show plan limits, permanent-link usage, and available features.

## Limitations and notes

Put It Online MCP server is a hosted service; the repository contains metadata, connection instructions, and logos rather than the service implementation. Anonymous links expire after seven days and require the returned management token for later anonymous operations. Password protection, permanent links, and expiry extension depend on the connected account's subscription. Deletion cannot be undone.

Uploads may remain in a checking or publishing state before they become shareable. Moderated content can enter review or be removed, with a removal reason and appeal URL available from link status. The service receives tool inputs and files sent to it, along with client and request metadata, but not the surrounding conversation.
