## Description
Flowcharts that people and agents edit together on one live canvas, exported as Mermaid.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

## Documentation

## What the Product Pillars MCP server does

The Product Pillars MCP server gives agents access to a hosted canvas where users and agents can collaborate on flowcharts. An agent can create a diagram from Mermaid flowchart input or start with an empty canvas. A user can then open the diagram, reposition elements, and make manual changes that the agent can read back.

The Product Pillars MCP server is intended for diagrams that have a visual audience or need hands-on editing. Supported examples include user journeys, onboarding and checkout flows, business process maps, approval workflows, and decision trees. It draws flowcharts only; when a diagram will remain entirely in source files, a Mermaid block may be sufficient.

Every diagram can be exported as Mermaid Markdown, allowing the result to be stored in a repository or other text-based workflow.

## How it works

The service is hosted at `https://www.productpillars.com/api/mcp`. Clients connect to that endpoint over HTTP rather than starting a local process from this repository. Claude Code can register the endpoint with its HTTP MCP transport, while Claude clients can add it as a custom connector. Setup instructions for Cursor, VS Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI are provided on the Product Pillars agents page.

Authentication uses OAuth for interactive clients. After signing in, the connected agent can perform only the actions allowed by the user's Product Pillars account. For scripts and CI, an API key from Product Pillars Settings can be sent in an `Authorization: Bearer` header.

The Product Pillars MCP server works alongside an optional agent skill. The skill helps coding agents decide when a flowchart belongs on the shared canvas and provides guidance for creating one. It can be installed independently with the skills package, or bundled with the Claude Code plugin.

## Tools and capabilities

Available tools include:

- `list_diagrams` and `list_projects` for finding existing work.
- `get_diagram` for reading a diagram.
- `create_diagram` for starting an empty diagram or creating one from Mermaid.
- `edit_diagram` for grouped, conflict-safe changes and automatic layout.
- `lint_diagram` for checking a diagram.
- `render_diagram` for producing a rendered view.
- `update_diagram` and `share_diagram` for maintaining and distributing diagrams.

Some clients may also expose prompts named `draw_flowchart`, `diagram_from_source`, and `review_diagram`. Prompt availability depends on whether the client displays MCP prompts.

## Setup and configuration

For Claude Code, install the repository's plugin with the marketplace and plugin commands, then open `/mcp`, select `product-pillars`, choose Authenticate, and sign in. If Product Pillars was previously added with `claude mcp add`, remove the duplicate entry before using the plugin.

To install only the skill, run `npx skills add jeremybelcher/product-pillars-agent-kit`. The skill explains how an agent can connect when the MCP server has not been configured.

Claude web, desktop, and mobile clients can use Settings, Connectors, and Add custom connector with the hosted URL. Automated use requires an API key and the bearer authorization header. Signing in creates a free Product Pillars account when the user does not already have one.

## Limitations and notes

The service does not run locally from this repository. Its scope is limited to flowcharts, not general diagram types. Agents connected to an account can read and write that account's diagrams, and diagram content read by an agent is sent to the agent provider under that provider's terms. Review the Product Pillars privacy policy and terms before connecting sensitive content.
