## Documentation

## What Preflight MCP server does

The Preflight MCP server gives AI clients access to a hosted social media scheduler through the Model Context Protocol. It supports YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and Tumblr, making it relevant to the 🌐 Social Media category.

Preflight separates composing, checking, publishing, management, and analysis. An agent can create a text draft without publishing it, validate a proposed post as a dry run, schedule or publish approved content, and later inspect or modify posts. It can also retrieve performance data, audience information, comments, and usage details.

## How it works

The Preflight MCP server is hosted at `https://preflight.social/mcp` and uses Streamable HTTP transport. Authentication supports OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, or an API key supplied as a bearer token. Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Cursor are documented connection options, with client-specific setup examples available from Preflight.

Validation runs against the target channels, attached files, timing, and network limits without creating a post. Publishing uses the same checks as the web composer and REST API. Media can be handled with `create_media_upload`, `complete_media_upload`, and `get_media`; the file bytes do not pass through the assistant.

Access is divided into scopes. `posts:read` covers channels, posts, comments, metrics, usage, and validation. `posts:write` covers drafts and changes to unpublished posts, while `posts:publish` controls content that goes live. Separate `media:read` and `media:write` scopes control file access and uploads.

## Tools and capabilities

The 27 tools cover these operations:

- Draft text with `draft_post`.
- Check content with `validate_post`.
- Schedule or publish with `create_post`.
- Upload and retrieve media.
- List, inspect, update, delete, retry, or edit posts.
- Retrieve performance, insights, summaries, audience data, comments, and usage.
- Manage Pinterest boards and YouTube playlists.
- Inspect TikTok creator information.
- List connected channels and find upcoming queue times.

The Preflight MCP server also exposes REST and OpenAPI documentation, a server card, network-limit data, and a dated rules tracker through the provider’s website.

## Setup and configuration

Connect an MCP client to `https://preflight.social/mcp`. Claude users can add it as a custom connector, Claude Code users can run `claude mcp add --transport http preflight https://preflight.social/mcp`, and Cursor users can follow the repository’s example configuration. The documentation also describes setup menus for supported clients.

The hosted service, MCP access, API keys, and webhooks are available on every plan, including Free. Hosting is in the EU, and the listed operator is ADMI ENTERPRISES s.r.o. in Brno, Czech Republic.

## Limitations and notes

This repository documents a hosted service rather than containing the server implementation. Publishing requires the `posts:publish` scope; a connection without that scope can still draft and validate when it has the appropriate read or write permissions. Network behavior remains subject to each platform’s publishing rules and limits.
