## Description
Search, draft and manage your podcast workspace from your agent.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **ask_podmule** — Ask PodMule for a concise read-only domain answer or an advisory route plan. Use this for quick questions, summaries, diagnostics, drafting, "what should I do?" prompts, and ambiguous action requests. This tool never performs writes. For exact capability contracts use search; for one selected action (read or write) use execute.
- **search** — Search available PodMule capabilities for this OAuth token. Use this when you need the exact capability name or schema before calling execute. For ambiguous domain requests, call ask_podmule first.
- **execute** — Execute one OAuth-visible PodMule capability. Reads run directly. Modern MCP 2026 clients with MRTR support may preview and affirm the allowlisted update_episode pilot; legacy clients and every other MCP write remain read-only. Dangerous writes are always blocked — do those in the PodMule app. Use ask_podmule for ambiguous requests and search for exact schemas.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "podmule": {
    "url": "https://app.podmule.com/mcp"
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What the PodMule MCP server does

The PodMule MCP server connects an AI agent to a podcast workspace hosted by PodMule. It works with the workspace’s shows, episodes, transcripts, back-catalogue knowledge base, clips, guest CRM, and interview bookings. The package includes a reference to PodMule’s remote MCP service and five skills that provide workflow-specific guidance.

The connection is intended for people who already have a PodMule workspace. It does not provide standalone podcast data or functionality without an account. Authentication uses the normal PodMule sign-in flow rather than a copied API key.

## How it works

The PodMule MCP server uses PodMule’s remote endpoint at `https://app.podmule.com/mcp`. An MCP client connects over HTTP and signs in through PodMule when authorization is needed. If an account has access to multiple workspaces, the sign-in flow lets the user select which workspace the connection should use.

The package exposes three tools. The accompanying skills help the agent decide when to use them and how to handle common tasks. Archive searching is read-only and is recommended as a first workflow. Skills that draft clips or episode writeups can change workspace data, so they request confirmation before making those changes.

Five skills are included:

- `find-in-back-catalogue` searches prior episodes and can locate quotes and timestamps.
- `draft-clips` prepares clips from an episode.
- `interview-brief` prepares background for an upcoming guest.
- `episode-writeup` generates episode titles and show notes.
- `workspace-triage` identifies items needing attention.

## Setup and configuration

Install the plugin through a supported client’s plugin or custom integration interface, or configure any compatible MCP client with the remote URL. A direct configuration uses an HTTP server entry and must include `"type": "http"` alongside the URL:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "podmule": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://app.podmule.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Claude Code users can add the marketplace and install the PodMule plugin, then authorize it through `/mcp`. Claude Desktop, ChatGPT desktop, and Codex can add `Squared-Lemons-Ltd/podmule-plugin` from their Plugins settings. Cursor, VS Code, and LM Studio provide installation links in the project instructions. Replit and Goose also have direct integration links.

## Tools and capabilities

Use the PodMule MCP server for searching a podcast back catalogue, finding exact transcript passages, drafting clips, preparing guest interview information, producing episode copy, and reviewing workspace tasks. The skills are shared across the Claude and Codex/ChatGPT plugin manifests, along with the MCP connector declaration.

## Limitations and notes

A PodMule workspace and account are required. The plugin does not operate independently, and the README states that no API key needs to be copied. Non-interactive Claude Code sessions, including `claude -p` and the Agent SDK, cannot complete the OAuth flow; authorize once from an interactive session before using those modes.

The ChatGPT chat surface is separate from the desktop plugin path and requires a connector ID created through developer-mode registration. The package alone cannot provide that connector. The repository also includes checks that validate its manifests and detect when a skill refers to a capability no longer listed by PodMule.
