## Description
Legal status of peptides and GLP-1 drugs in the US, UK, EU, Australia, Canada, Brazil and sport.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **check_legal_status** — Is this peptide legal? One compound, everywhere Peptlas tracks or in one place you name, with the U.S. answer in full (compounding rules, the latest FDA advisory vote, the next dated event), primary sources and the date it was last verified.
- **status_in_place** — What is legal in a country? Every tracked compound in one place: a country, region, EU member state, regulator or "sport".
- **list_compounds** — The compounds Peptlas tracks, with the names people search by: brands, codes and street names.
- **recent_changes** — Dated regulatory events, newest first: FDA votes, list changes, comment deadlines, warning letters.

## Documentation

## What Peptlas: is this peptide legal? does

Peptlas: is this peptide legal? connects an MCP-compatible AI client to the Peptlas legal-status atlas. It covers peptide and GLP-1 regulatory information for the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Brazil, and sport-related rules.

The server is read-only and does not require an account. Results can include the relevant primary sources and the date on which the status was last verified. US results can provide additional detail about compounding rules, the latest FDA advisory vote, and the next dated event when that information is available.

## How it works

The server resolves a compound from names that users commonly enter, including brand names, development codes, and street names. For example, a query can identify semaglutide from Ozempic or Wegovy, or resolve shorthand such as “reta.” It reads the same atlas data used by peptlas.com.

Its data source is rebuilt when Peptlas updates the atlas. Official sources are checked every six hours, but a regulatory status changes only after a person reviews the relevant primary source. Changes are recorded with dates in a public changelog.

## Setup and configuration

Peptlas: is this peptide legal? can be used through the hosted MCP endpoint without installing local software:

Claude can add it as a custom connector. Claude Code can register the endpoint with an HTTP MCP command. Cursor and clients that use an `mcpServers` configuration can add the URL under a server named `peptlas`; VS Code uses an HTTP entry in `.vscode/mcp.json`.

Clients that only support local processes can run the repository through `npx -y github:Peptlas/peptlas-mcp`. The local process downloads the current data from peptlas.com once when it starts, so later updates require a restart.

No environment variables, account, cookies, or authentication are described as required.

## Tools and capabilities

- `check_legal_status` checks one compound across all tracked locations or a named location. It returns the status, supporting sources, and verification date.
- `status_in_place` lists the tracked compounds for a country, region, EU member state, regulator, or “sport.”
- `list_compounds` returns the compounds in the atlas together with searchable brands, codes, and street names.
- `recent_changes` shows dated regulatory developments in newest-first order, including FDA votes, list changes, comment deadlines, and warning letters.

## Limitations and notes

Peptlas: is this peptide legal? reports legal and regulatory status, not safety, efficacy, dosing, or treatment recommendations. The project states that its content is not legal or medical advice and does not recommend products or sellers.

Coverage is limited to the compounds and places represented in the atlas. A result should therefore be read with its cited primary source and verification date, particularly when rules or regulatory events are changing.

The code is licensed under MIT, while the atlas data is available under CC BY 4.0 with attribution and a link to the relevant compound page.
