## Description
MCP server for executing AppleScript

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
## Documentation
## What @peakmojo/applescript-mcp does
@peakmojo/applescript-mcp exposes AppleScript execution through the Model Context Protocol. An MCP-compatible client can send AppleScript that interacts with macOS applications and data, including Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Messages, and Apple Music. The same approach can handle Finder or Spotlight file searches, file reads and writes, shell command execution, and system queries such as battery percentage or available disk space.
Typical tasks include creating reminders, adding calendar events, drafting notes, opening Safari at a URL, listing running applications, playing a playlist, taking a screenshot, and looking up a contact. These examples describe the kinds of operations AppleScript can perform through the server; the exact result depends on the script and the permissions granted on the Mac.
## How it works
The server runs as a local MCP process and receives requests from an MCP client. In the Node.js setup, the client starts the package with `npx`. Python users can launch the published source directly from the Git repository with `uvx`, or run a local checkout with `uv`.
The server can also execute AppleScript remotely over SSH. In the documented Docker arrangement, the container connects to the Mac host through `host.docker.internal`; the Mac must have Remote Login enabled, and the supplied user credentials must have the required permissions. This gives an agent a way to send AppleScript to a Mac outside the process running the MCP client.
## Setup and configuration
Claude Desktop can configure the Node.js variant with the `npx` command and the `@peakmojo/applescript-mcp` package as its argument. The Python options use either `uvx --from git+https://github.com/peakmojo/applescript-mcp mcp-server-applescript` or a local repository started with `uv --directory /path/to/your/repo run mcp-server-applescript`.
For local development, the repository documents installing `uv` with Homebrew, cloning the repository, and running `uv sync --dev`. Its checks can be run together with `uv run check`; separate commands are provided for linting, formatting, type checking, and tests.
A Docker configuration can pass `--remoteHost`, `--remoteUser`, and `--remotePassword` to target a Mac host over SSH. The README does not specify environment variables for the standard launch configurations.
## Tools and capabilities
The primary capability is executing AppleScript through MCP. That enables agents to:
- Access supported Mac applications and their data.
- Work with Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Messages, Apple Music, Safari, and other applications through AppleScript.
- Search for files with Spotlight or Finder.
- Read and write file contents.
- Execute shell commands through AppleScript workflows.
- Query system details such as battery status and free disk space.
- Run AppleScript on a remote Mac through SSH.
## Limitations and notes
This package targets Mac automation, so it is intended for environments where AppleScript and the relevant macOS applications are available. Operations may require macOS authorization or application-specific permissions; the documented Docker setup also requires SSH access, enabled Remote Login, and suitable user permissions.
AppleScript behavior varies by application and by the script supplied by the client. The server provides the execution path rather than a fixed set of high-level workflows. Review scripts carefully before allowing an agent to run them, especially when they can modify files, control applications, execute shell commands, or access personal data.
The provided client configuration documents Claude Desktop. Other clients may require their own MCP configuration format, even though the server exposes a standard local process entry point.
