## Description
Flashcard decks with pictures and card designs for a free vocabulary site in 60 languages.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **list_languages** — The 60 languages Ordkort teaches and explains in, with their codes.
- **list_topics** — The built-in topics for word lists (greetings, food, the doctor, documents and public services…), with their ids.
- **ready_words** — Words already in Ordkort's shared bank for a topic and level, with translations, forms and examples. Nouns and verbs have been checked against dictionaries. May be empty for a rare pair of languages; then write the words yourself.
- **find_pictures** — Openly licensed pictures for a word: first the Wikimedia Commons picture of the Wikidata item the word names (found in the word's own language, so "hus" in nb finds a house), then Pixabay's photos and drawings, then Openverse's, sorted so those whose title or tags hold the word come first. Give the bare word without its article, and its language. Each has an image_url to put on a card and a credit to show with it. Look at the credit: it names the picture.
- **design_guide** — How a card is built, the fields and pictures a template can use, and the CSS variables and parts of the site. Read it before create_design.
- **create_deck** — Makes a deck of up to 500 cards and returns a link. When the person opens the link, Ordkort shows the deck and adds it to their cards if they agree. Pictures are given by an https address (for example from find_pictures), and so is the deck's cover (cover_url), a small picture shown instead of the emoji. The link works for a year.
- **create_design** — Makes a look for Ordkort and returns a link that shows it and applies it if the person agrees. Read design_guide first. front_html and back_html are card templates with fields in double braces: {{term}}, {{translation}}, {{pronunciation}}, {{grammar}}, {{forms}}, {{example}}, {{example_translation}}, {{image}}, {{audio}}, {{deck}}; {{#example}}…{{/example}} shows its inside only when the card has an example. The card's picture: <img src="{{image}}"> or var(--card-image) in CSS. Pictures by https address (CSS url() or <img src>) are fetched once by Ordkort, at most 8. card_css styles the cards, site_css the whole site through CSS variables (--paper, --card, --ink, --blue, --font-serif…). Scripts and event handlers are removed. The answer may carry notes on what will not work as meant.

## Documentation

## What Ordkort does

Ordkort provides MCP tools for creating language-learning content on ordkort.com. Agents can inspect the supported languages and built-in topics, retrieve words for a language pair and level, find openly licensed images, and generate either a flashcard deck or a visual design for cards.

The service is suited to workflows that need ready-to-study vocabulary rather than raw translation alone. Word results can include translations, grammatical forms, and example sentences. The shared word bank covers topics and levels, although uncommon language pairs may have no prepared entries.

## How it works

An MCP client connects to Ordkort at `https://ordkort.com/mcp`. The agent can first select language codes and a topic ID, then request words at the desired level. For illustrated cards, it can search for pictures using the word in its own language. Results include an image URL and credit information for use on the card.

Deck creation accepts up to 500 cards. Card images and an optional cover are supplied as HTTPS URLs. Ordkort returns a link that displays the deck; when the recipient opens it, the deck is added to their cards only if they agree. Deck links remain usable for one year.

Design creation follows a similar link-based flow. The agent can define HTML templates for the front and back of a card and provide CSS for cards and the surrounding site. The returned link previews and applies the design after the user approves it.

## Setup and configuration

Add the Ordkort MCP endpoint to an MCP-compatible client that supports remote servers. No API key or environment variable is required by the MCP interface described here.

For deck images and covers, provide HTTPS addresses such as those returned by `find_pictures`. Picture credits should be retained with the card because the image results include attribution details. A design can reference card fields with double-braced placeholders, including `{{term}}`, `{{translation}}`, `{{image}}`, `{{audio}}`, and `{{deck}}`.

## Tools and capabilities

- `list_languages` returns the 60 supported languages and their codes.
- `list_topics` returns built-in vocabulary topics and their IDs.
- `ready_words` retrieves shared-bank words for a topic, level, and language pair, including translations, forms, and examples.
- `find_pictures` searches Wikimedia Commons, Pixabay, and Openverse, prioritizing results whose titles or tags match the word.
- `design_guide` explains available card fields, conditional example blocks, image references, CSS variables, and site parts.
- `create_deck` builds a deck of up to 500 cards and returns a shareable Ordkort link.
- `create_design` creates an HTML/CSS card appearance and returns a link for preview and application.

## Limitations and notes

`ready_words` may return an empty result for rare language pairs, in which case the agent must supply the vocabulary. Picture searches should use the bare word without its article and specify the word's language. Ordkort fetches externally referenced design images once and allows at most eight such images.

Scripts and event handlers are removed from custom designs. CSS can style the cards and site, but the design response may include notes about elements that cannot behave as intended. The card templates support the documented fields and conditional `{{#example}}...{{/example}}` blocks rather than arbitrary application logic.
