## Description
The Offorte Proposal Software MCP server enables creation and sending of business proposals.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **get_initial_context** — **IMPORTANT:** Must be called before using any other tools to initialize context and get usage instructions
- **get_users** — Lists all account users for the current account
- **get_automation_sets** — Lists automation sets which are used as an optional input to create a new proposal
- **create_contact** — Create a new contact (organisation or person/individual)
- **get_contact_details** — Get all details for a contact by id
- **search_contact_organisations** — Search for organisations by name in the contacts
- **search_contact_people** — Search for people by name in the contacts
- **get_proposal_templates** — Lists proposal templates which are used as starting points to create new proposals
- **create_proposal** — Create a new proposal
- **get_proposal_directories** — Get all proposal directories grouped by status
- **search_proposals** — Search for proposals by query
- **send_proposal** — Send a proposal to its assigned contacts
- **get_design_templates** — Lists available design templates which are used to create new proposals
- **get_email_templates** — Lists available email templates which are used to send proposals
- **get_text_templates** — Lists available language text templates which are used to create new proposals

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "offorte-mcp-server": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","@offorte/mcp-server"],
    "env": {
      "OFFORTE_ACCOUNT_NAME": "",
      "OFFORTE_API_KEY": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `OFFORTE_ACCOUNT_NAME`, `OFFORTE_API_KEY` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What offorte/offorte-mcp-server MCP server does

offorte/offorte-mcp-server MCP server exposes a selected part of Offorte's Public API v2 through Model Context Protocol. Its scope is focused on creating and sending business proposals rather than covering the complete Offorte API.

The available operations cover account users, contacts, proposal templates, automation sets, proposal records, and settings used during proposal creation and delivery. Agents can create contacts for organisations or individuals, retrieve contact details, search contacts by organisation or person name, and find proposals by query. They can also create proposals and send them to their assigned contacts.

The server does not currently provide general update or delete operations. This makes it better suited to proposal-generation workflows than to full account administration.

## How it works

The offorte/offorte-mcp-server MCP server communicates with Offorte through the Offorte Public API v2. A client connects to the server using MCP, then invokes the exposed tools. The required first call is get_initial_context; it initializes the context and returns usage instructions. Other tool calls should follow that initialization step.

The default transport is stdio. Setting TRANSPORT_TYPE to `sse` enables Server-Sent Events mode instead. The repository describes Node.js 20.x as the tested Node.js version.

Proposal creation can use information returned by discovery tools, including proposal templates, automation sets, design templates, email templates, and text templates. Proposal directories can be listed by status, and existing proposals can be searched before sending.

## Setup and configuration

Running the published package through `npx` or starting a locally built Node.js entry point requires two Offorte settings: `OFFORTE_ACCOUNT_NAME` and `OFFORTE_API_KEY`. The API key must come from Offorte's API authentication process.

For the package-based setup, configure an MCP client to run `npx -y @offorte/mcp-server` and provide those environment variables. For a local setup, install dependencies with pnpm, build the project, and point the client at `dist/server.js`. The repository also documents `pnpm dev`, `pnpm start`, `pnpm inspect`, and `pnpm build` commands for development and operation.

The README provides a Claude Desktop configuration and says Claude Desktop is the only client currently tested by the project.

## Tools and capabilities

The offorte/offorte-mcp-server MCP server exposes these tool groups:

- Context: initialize usage context with `get_initial_context`.
- Account and automation: list account users and automation sets.
- Contacts: create contacts, retrieve contact details, and search organisations or people.
- Proposal resources: list proposal templates, design templates, email templates, and text templates.
- Proposals: create proposals, list proposal directories grouped by status, search proposals, and send proposals to assigned contacts.

These tools support a workflow in which an agent discovers available templates and account data, identifies or creates a contact, creates a proposal, and sends it.

## Limitations and notes

The offorte/offorte-mcp-server MCP server implements only the API features needed for the documented create-and-send proposal workflow. The README identifies the project as early technology and notes that MCP is still evolving, so tool calls may produce unexpected results.

Only Claude Desktop is explicitly reported as tested. The project requires an Offorte account name and API key, and the initial-context call is mandatory before other tools. Update and delete commands are not implemented in the current tool set.
