## Description
Free, no-login flight search with real-time pricing from multiple airlines.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "octotrip-flights": {
    "url": "https://mcp.octotrip.app/flights/mcp"
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What OctoTrip Flights MCP server does

The OctoTrip Flights MCP server provides live flight-search results through MCP. It queries external flight aggregator APIs and compares offers from multiple airlines and booking platforms worldwide. Results include carrier details, flight numbers, stop counts, durations, prices, baggage information, and booking links.

The service is intended for discovery and comparison. It does not purchase tickets, change reservations, charge users, or retain user data. Booking links include affiliate attribution, and the results state that OctoTrip may receive a commission without adding a cost to the user.

## How it works

The OctoTrip Flights MCP server exposes a stateless Streamable HTTP endpoint at `https://mcp.octotrip.app/flights/mcp`. An MCP client sends a tool call to `search`, and the service returns structured results using `text/event-stream` responses. There is no session persistence or resumability.

A search requires an origin, destination, and departure date. Origins and destinations can be city names, airport names, or IATA codes. The departure date accepts formats such as `YYYY-MM-DD`, `DD.MM.YYYY`, or natural-language input. Optional fields cover a return date, adult, child, and infant passenger counts, cabin class, currency, and response locale.

Results are grouped by number of stops and ordered by price within each stop-count group. The response can include resolved airport identities, direct-flight indicators, segment details, total travel time, fare currency, baggage information, and a booking URL. Search results and booking links are expected to remain valid for about 15 minutes because prices come from a real-time bidding process.

## Setup and configuration

Add the endpoint to an MCP client configuration under a server name such as `octotrip-flights`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "octotrip-flights": {
      "url": "https://mcp.octotrip.app/flights/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

No API key or account is required. The README provides configuration examples for Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and Cline. Clients limited to stdio transport can connect through `mcp-remote`:

```bash
npx mcp-remote https://mcp.octotrip.app/flights/mcp
```

The service permits one request per second with burst capacity for five requests. Direct protocol clients can initialize an MCP session, list tools, and call `search` over HTTP.

## Tools and capabilities

The server exposes one documented tool:

- `search`: Finds current one-way or round-trip flight offers for specified travel criteria.
- Passenger inputs support 1–9 adults, 0–9 children aged 2–11, and 0–9 infants under two.
- Cabin selection supports economy (`Y`) and business (`C`).
- Currency and response language can be selected, with EUR and English as defaults.
- Structured errors identify unresolved airports, ambiguous locations, invalid dates, and searches with no results.

An `airport_not_found` response suggests trying an IATA code, city name, or airport name. `disambiguation_needed` indicates that the request should specify one airport when several match a location. A fresh search is appropriate when results have become stale.
