## Description
MCP server for managing Naver Cloud Platform Government (Ncloud 공공존) infrastructure

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "ncloud-gov": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","ncloud-gov-mcp-server"],
    "env": {
      "NCLOUD_ACCESS_KEY": "",
      "NCLOUD_SECRET_KEY": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `NCLOUD_ACCESS_KEY`, `NCLOUD_SECRET_KEY` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What ncloud-gov MCP server does

The ncloud-gov MCP server connects MCP-compatible AI clients to Naver Cloud Platform Government Cloud, also called Ncloud 공공존. It exposes approximately 877 tools in 13 groups for querying and managing infrastructure through natural-language requests.

Supported areas include servers, block storage, public IPs, auto scaling, access control groups, VPC networking, load balancers, managed databases, Kubernetes Service, Container Registry, NAS, S3-compatible Object Storage, Archive Storage, source-management services, security services, analytics, media, governance, and billing. The `common` group provides region and zone operations and is always available when groups are restricted.

The project is based on the private-zone ncloud MCP server but targets government-zone endpoints. It is useful for government-cloud administration workflows where the agent must work against Ncloud’s isolated public-sector environment rather than the commercial zone.

## How it works

The server runs as a Node.js process using the MCP protocol over standard input and output. It signs API requests with HMAC-SHA256 and sends them to the government API Gateway by default. Most endpoints use `*.apigw.gov-ntruss.com`, while services such as Object Storage, Archive Storage, Container Registry, Private CA, KMS, and VOD Station use service-specific government domains or signing rules.

By default, all 13 groups are registered. Set `NCLOUD_TOOL_GROUPS` to load only selected groups, such as `compute,network`, or use exclusions such as `all,-database`. The `dynamic` mode starts with core groups and exposes metadata tools for listing groups and enabling additional groups during a session. Explicitly blocked groups cannot be enabled at runtime.

## Setup and configuration

Node.js 20 or newer and API credentials issued by the Government Cloud console are required. The package can be launched without a local checkout:

```bash
npx -y ncloud-gov-mcp-server
```

A local installation can instead clone the repository, run `npm install`, build with `npm run build`, and start `dist/index.js` with Node.js. Configure the MCP client with `NCLOUD_ACCESS_KEY` and `NCLOUD_SECRET_KEY`; `NCLOUD_REGION` defaults to `KR` and also accepts `KRS`.

`NCLOUD_API_URL` can override the default gateway. `NCLOUD_LANG` changes error messages to English, and `NCLOUD_TIMEOUT_MS` controls request timeout. Archive Storage tools require both `NCLOUD_ARCHIVE_PROJECT_ID` and `NCLOUD_ARCHIVE_DOMAIN_ID`. The government API documentation should be checked before relying on a service or endpoint because availability differs from the private zone.

## Tools and capabilities

The ncloud-gov MCP server organizes tools by service group:

- Compute and network resource management
- MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, and Redis services
- Kubernetes and container registry operations
- NAS, Object Storage, and Archive Storage operations
- Source Commit, Source Build, Source Deploy, and Source Pipeline
- Certificates, Private CA, security monitoring, and KMS
- Hadoop, search, streaming, log analytics, and Cloud Insight
- Resource governance, subaccounts, activity tracing, and cost queries

Some groups provide management or monitoring endpoints rather than the complete service API. The archived 0.2.x package also contains legacy tool coverage that is not identical to the successor package.

## Limitations and notes

This package is no longer supported. The maintainers have integrated Government Cloud support into `ncloud-mcp-server` 2.0 and later. Migration requires replacing the package and adding `NCLOUD_ZONE=gov`; the government credentials, region values, tool-group settings, and Archive Storage variables keep their names and meanings.

The older package remains installable and runnable, but future feature work and API changes are directed to the integrated package. Build checks, unit tests, and MCP registration tests cover the documented tool groups, while actual API calls against every Government Cloud service have not all been verified with a live account. CDN+ and Global CDN are scheduled for service retirement and are not the preferred direction for new work.
