## What musette-mcp does

The musette-mcp MCP server adds cycling nutrition planning and product ordering workflows to Claude. Its tools turn ride parameters into a carbohydrate and hydration plan, then optionally map that plan to specific products and quantities. The server also provides event lookup for cycling sportives and other events.

Plans include carbohydrates per hour, total carbohydrate targets, hydration guidance, a timed feeding schedule, drink/gel/bar proportions, and safety advice. The planning engine is described as validated by Ien Vitse, a sports dietitian and former Jumbo-Visma performance nutritionist. Event lookup returns an event's date, location, distance, and elevation when available.

## How it works

Claude sends the server plain ride information such as distance, elevation, intensity, and temperature. The server calculates a plan and can pass that result into the product-assembly tool. That tool returns concrete Amacx and Maurten products, quantities, and a pre-filled order link for musette.cc.

The musette-mcp MCP server does not read Strava accounts directly. When Claude also has Strava's MCP connector, Strava can provide ride history and training context; Claude then supplies the relevant numbers to Musette. The server uses Streamable HTTP through mcp-lite and runs as a stateless Supabase Edge Function on Deno.

## Setup and configuration

Add the hosted endpoint as a custom connector in Claude:

1. Open Claude Settings, then Connectors.
2. Choose “Add custom connector.”
3. Name the connector `Musette`.
4. Enter `https://mcp.musette.cc`.

Payment is handled only if the user chooses to order. Adding Strava's own MCP connector is optional and provides the ride data for a more personalized conversation.

## Tools and capabilities

- `bereken_voedingsplan` calculates a ride-specific nutrition plan with fueling, hydration, timing, product-type distribution, and safety guidance.
- `stel_musette_samen` converts a plan into a product bundle with quantities and a pre-filled checkout link.
- `zoek_evenement` finds a cycling event by name and returns date, location, distance, and elevation.
- `musette_info` explains the service.
- `ping` checks connectivity.

## Limitations and notes

The musette-mcp MCP server receives numeric ride inputs rather than a Strava authorization or account connection. Strava data remains with Strava's connector. The order link carries product identifiers and quantities, while prices are looked up and checked again at checkout.

The returned product brands are Amacx and Maurten, and the order is completed on musette.cc rather than inside the MCP conversation.
