## What the MORVS MCP server does

The MORVS MCP server connects AI agents to US public-record data without requiring an API key. Its read-only tools cover company filings, product recalls, enforcement actions, contracts, lobbying, lawsuits, sanctions, debarment, complaints, market indicators, and public datasets. Sources include federal agencies, courts, FINRA, and other listed public-record systems.

The service is intended for institution-level research. It can help an agent resolve an entity, assemble a dated timeline or dossier, cite individual records, and report the freshness of the underlying dataset. The accompanying research guidance also addresses compliance screening, market signals, and dataset selection.

## How it works

The server is available through streamable HTTP at `https://api.morvs.ai/mcp`. An MCP client sends requests to the endpoint and receives data from the available public-record tools. The plugin materials provide skills that guide agents through entity resolution, timeline building, source citation, compliance checks, market-data interpretation, and dataset discovery.

Responses are designed to retain links to the record and its primary source. Agents can use this information to explain where a result came from and when the data was accessed. Freshness differs by source, so the agent checks and states the relevant `dataset_freshness` value when applicable.

## Setup and configuration

To use the MORVS MCP server, connect an MCP client to the streamable HTTP endpoint. No API key or environment variable is required. Claude Desktop and claude.ai can add it as a custom connector using the endpoint URL.

Claude Code can install the provided marketplace plugin with `/plugin marketplace add morvs-ai/morvs-plugins`, followed by `/plugin install morvs@morvs`. Codex has corresponding `codex plugin marketplace add morvs-ai/morvs-plugins` and `codex plugin add morvs@morvs` commands. The repository is also listed in the official MCP Registry as `io.github.morvs-ai/morvs`.

## Tools and capabilities

The MORVS MCP server provides 73 read-only tools spanning:

- SEC filings and other company records
- FDA recalls and regulatory information
- DOJ, CFPB, EPA, and related enforcement records
- OFAC sanctions, SAM debarment data, and HHS OIG exclusions
- NHTSA, USPTO, courts, lobbying, and contracts data
- FINRA short data, fails-to-deliver data, and insider activity
- Public dataset and keyless JSON endpoint discovery

The plugin also includes Claude Code commands for entity research, screening, and dataset searches. Its skills can produce source-cited research, compliance checks with coverage caveats, dated market evidence, and dataset reuse-term guidance.

## Limitations and notes

Some indexes are partial local copies, so a missing match does not establish clearance. Sanctions, exclusions, and debarments should be checked against the official OFAC, SAM.gov, and HHS OIG lists before action. Experimental screening tools such as `screen_all` return indicative scores rather than formal determinations.

Data freshness varies by source. Market information is provided for informational use and is not investment advice; the service does not provide legal advice. Research is designed for institutions, and the skills summarize records at the issuer level while avoiding profiles of private individuals. Source data remains subject to its own terms, and users should cite the record URL, access date, and primary source. The plugin files are MIT-licensed, while non-federal and self-regulatory-organization data may retain separate terms.

The MORVS MCP server reports public-record evidence, not a definitive compliance or legal conclusion. Use official sources and applicable professional review when a decision depends on complete or current records.
