## Description
Drug reference: GRLS, VEDL prices, Roszdravnadzor series recalls. Not medical advice.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `uvx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "mcp-pharma": {
    "command": "uvx",
    "args": ["atomno-mcp-pharma"],
    "env": {
      "MCP_PHARMA_API_KEY": "",
      "MCP_PHARMA_API_BASE": "",
      "MCP_PHARMA_TIMEOUT": "",
      "MCP_PHARMA_LOG_LEVEL": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `MCP_PHARMA_API_KEY`, `MCP_PHARMA_API_BASE`, `MCP_PHARMA_TIMEOUT`, `MCP_PHARMA_LOG_LEVEL` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What mcp-pharma does

The mcp-pharma MCP server provides Russian medicine-reference data through an MCP interface. Its data comes from an official daily GRLS export, the registry of maximum prices for medicines on the VEDL list, and weekly Roszdravnadzor quality-control letters concerning product series. The service is intended for factual registry lookups and explicitly does not provide medical advice.

Searches can use a trade name or an international nonproprietary name (INN/MNN). Registration information includes the marketing authorization status, authorization holder, relevant dates, dosage or release forms, and manufacturer. Where a medicine appears in the regulated price registry, the service can return its maximum listed price. Recall checks return matching Roszdravnadzor letters with the medicine name, series, letter type, number, and date.

## How it works

The package runs as an MCP client backed by a hosted service. AI applications communicate with the local process using the standard MCP configuration format, while the process accesses the configured API backend. Every tool response includes a source, a check timestamp, and a disclaimer so applications can show where the information came from and when it was checked.

The mcp-pharma MCP server does not contain instruction text in the GRLS export. Calling `get_instruction` therefore returns `ready: false` together with the reason that the text is not available. An empty medicine result should not be interpreted as confirmation that a source refused the request.

## Setup and configuration

Install the package with either `pipx install atomno-mcp-pharma` or `uvx atomno-mcp-pharma`. Add a server entry to the MCP configuration used by Cursor or Claude Desktop, using `uvx` as the command and `atomno-mcp-pharma` as its argument.

`MCP_PHARMA_API_KEY` is required. It supplies the Pro key through the `X-API-Key` request header. `MCP_PHARMA_API_BASE` can override the default production hosted-backend URL. `MCP_PHARMA_TIMEOUT` controls the HTTP timeout in seconds and defaults to 30; `MCP_PHARMA_LOG_LEVEL` accepts `DEBUG`, `INFO`, `WARNING`, or `ERROR`, with `WARNING` as the default.

## Tools and capabilities

The available tools are:

- `search_drug`: searches by a query and accepts an optional result limit.
- `check_drug_registration`: checks registration using a name, MNN, or registration-certificate number.
- `get_drug_card`: retrieves a GRLS record by name or registration-certificate number.
- `get_zhnvlp_price`: looks up VEDL maximum prices by name or MNN.
- `check_recall`: searches Roszdravnadzor series letters by medicine name or series.
- `get_instruction`: reports that instruction text is unavailable rather than returning a document.

These tools support workflows such as identifying a registered product, checking its authorization details, verifying a regulated price entry, or locating quality-control correspondence for a batch series.

## Limitations and notes

The mcp-pharma MCP server is limited to the datasets and fields exposed by its source exports. It does not provide medicine instructions through the current GRLS data. A registry result is reference information, not a clinical recommendation. The project is not affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Health or Roszdravnadzor, despite using their published registry and letter data. The repository states that the package is licensed under MIT.
