Framedeck is a Kanban content production manager for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Podcast creators. 32 tools for managing productions, stages, frames (cards), checklists, comments, and labels. ## What Lukaris/framedeck-mcp MCP server does

Lukaris/framedeck-mcp MCP server connects an MCP-compatible AI assistant to Framedeck. Framedeck supports creator workflows for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and podcasts, as well as a classic project-management mode. The server lets an assistant work with productions or projects, stages, cards or frames, labels, comments, checklists, assignments, and activity data.

The server supports both content-pipeline and general project terminology. In creator mode, work can move through stages such as Idea, Scripting, Filming, Editing, and Published. In classic mode, the same underlying concepts are presented as projects, stages, and cards.

## How it works

The server runs locally through the `npx framedeck-mcp` command and uses the `FRAMEDECK_API_KEY` environment variable to authenticate with Framedeck. An assistant can establish an active board or production context with `set_active_board`; tools that accept an optional board then use that context by default.

Cards created without a specified board are placed in Framedeck’s Idea Pool. Multiple ideas can be captured in one request, with batch creation supporting up to 50 cards according to the project documentation. When an idea is ready, `graduate_to_production` can create a dedicated production with the standard creator stages and move the idea card into it.

The Lukaris/framedeck-mcp MCP server also provides safety metadata for its tools. These annotations identify properties such as read-only behavior, destructive actions, idempotence, and whether a tool can affect external state. This allows compatible clients to warn users before operations such as permanently deleting cards, deleting stages, or archiving cards.

## Setup and configuration

Create an API key in Framedeck under Settings > API Keys. For Claude Code, the documented command is:

For Claude Desktop, add a server entry to `claude_desktop_config.json` with `npx` as the command, `-y framedeck-mcp` as the arguments, and the API key in the server’s environment configuration. Other MCP clients can use the same `FRAMEDECK_API_KEY` variable and run `npx framedeck-mcp`.
