## Documentation

## What Keeploop MCP server does

Keeploop MCP server gives AI applications access to selected personal information and actions on a Mac. The connected sources include Apple Mail, mail threads and attachments, Calendar, Messages, Notes, Contacts, and Slack. It also supports monitors that can wake an agent when a reply arrives and can create threaded mail drafts in the user's voice. Drafting saves a draft rather than sending a message.

The repository provides plugins and command definitions rather than the Keeploop application itself. It is listed in the Workplace & Productivity category and is intended for workflows such as reviewing today's schedule, finding unanswered mail, summarizing conversations, locating files sent by email, and checking open calendar time.

## How it works

For local use, the plugin starts the connector bundled inside Keeploop.app through a small launcher. The Keeploop app handles access permissions and communicates with its connector over a local connection. The repository's launcher does not read user data directly, make network connections, download code, or install packages. Data is retrieved when the connected AI application calls a tool.

The local `keeploop` plugin supports Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and Grok Build. A Claude Code session-start hook identifies the session so a monitor can wake the session that created it. The repository also contains `keeploop-remote` for Grok Bot. That plugin points to `https://mcp.keeploop.app/mcp` and runs no code on the user's computer.

The same hosted MCP URL can be added to web or phone AI applications that support custom MCP connectors, including Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, and Poke. Remote requests reach the Mac only after the user approves the connection. Remote applications begin in read-only mode until additional access is allowed in Keeploop. The connection service passes requests and results between the app and Mac but does not store the exchanged data; account, device, approval records, and limited security event metadata are handled separately as described in the README.

## Setup and configuration

Local installation requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later, plus Keeploop.app installed in `/Applications` or `~/Applications` and opened once. The app can install the plugin from Keeploop Settings > Connect. Claude Code can install it from the marketplace, Cursor can install Keeploop from its marketplace or use this repository as a plugin source, and Gemini CLI can install the repository as an extension. Grok Build uses the Claude Code marketplace commands.

For Grok Bot, add Keeploop from Connect apps, sign in in the opened window, and approve Grok Bot on the Mac. Web and phone clients use the hosted MCP URL and require Keeploop Pro or its free trial. Local plugin use is available on the Free plan. No environment variables are documented.

## Tools and capabilities

The available command workflows include:

- `/keep-today` for the day's schedule, owed replies, and monitor hits.
- `/keep-free` for open calendar slots within a requested duration and range.
- `/keep-brief` for unread mail, messages needing replies, and monitor hits.
- `/keep-reply` for threads awaiting the user's response.
- `/keep-thread` for conversation summaries, decisions, and open questions.
- `/keep-draft` for saving a suggested threaded reply as a draft.
- `/keep-find` for locating a file from a description.
- `/keep-waiting` for sent mail without a response, ordered oldest first.
- `/keep-settings` for viewing or proposing permission changes.
- `/keep-help` for listing commands.

Keeploop MCP server applies the permissions configured in the Keeploop app to each call. The repository itself is MIT licensed, while the Keeploop application is separate proprietary software.
