## What Journely Markets does

The Journely Markets MCP server gives MCP clients access to market data for Vietnam, Japan, and the United States. Its data includes macroeconomic indicators, forward projections, scheduled economic events, sector and industry aggregates, company snapshots, financial statements, analyst forecasts, historical prices, and upcoming earnings information.

The service is intended for research, analytics, and AI-agent workflows. It does not provide trading, order, or portfolio-position endpoints, and its results are not investment recommendations. The service is broker-neutral, so using it does not require an account with a particular execution venue.

## How it works

Journely Markets MCP server is hosted at `https://api.journely.me/api/v1/journely/mcp` and uses the Streamable HTTP transport. There is no local server package to install or self-host. Clients send MCP requests to the remote endpoint with bearer-token authentication. Clients that support remote connector sign-in may instead use OAuth 2.1 with PKCE through the service's protected-resource discovery.

Each MCP tool has a corresponding REST endpoint and uses the same data model. This allows an agent to call the tools through an MCP client, while a notebook, backend, or command-line script can make ordinary HTTP requests. The API is documented with an OpenAPI 3.1 specification and separate MCP transport and schema documentation.

Symbols must already be known: the service does not include a ticker-search tool. Requests can use US, Japanese, or Vietnamese symbols such as `AAPL`, `7203`, or `FPT`.

## Setup and configuration

Create an API key at `https://journely.me/settings/api-keys`, then configure an MCP client with the remote URL and an `Authorization: Bearer ...` header. In Claude Desktop, the server can be added under an MCP server entry and becomes available after restarting the client. Cursor is also named as a supported MCP client.

For REST use, set the token in the `JOURNELY_TOKEN` environment variable or provide it through the HTTP client's authorization header. The hosted service offers a free tier with a limit of 100 calls per day and 30 per hour; only tool calls count toward that quota. Higher tiers have larger limits.

## Tools and capabilities

The Journely Markets MCP server exposes nine MCP tools:

- `get_macro_indicators`: Retrieves GDP, inflation, labor, and interest-rate data for the supported countries.
- `get_macro_forecast`: Returns macroeconomic projections covering roughly four to eight quarters.
- `get_macro_calendar`: Lists upcoming events such as FOMC decisions, CPI, NFP, and GDP releases with previous, forecast, and actual values.
- `get_sector_overview`: Provides sector or industry snapshots, including valuation, margins, dividend yield, and one-day or one-year changes. These aggregates are broad-market rather than country-specific.
- `get_stock_overview`: Combines a company snapshot with a live quote for a supported ticker.
- `get_stock_statements`: Returns annual or quarterly income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, or selected ratios.
- `get_stock_forecast`: Provides analyst consensus, price targets, and rating trends.
- `get_stock_price_history`: Supplies closing-price history, with fuller daily coverage for US equities and more limited historical coverage for Japan and Vietnam.
- `get_earnings_calendar`: Lists upcoming earnings dates and EPS or revenue estimates for specified US tickers.

## Limitations and notes

Coverage and history differ by market. US equities have full daily price history, while Japanese and Vietnamese data provide approximately one year of daily history plus longer-horizon snapshots. Sector data is not split by country. Pricing is intended for fundamental and research workloads, not high-frequency or millisecond trading strategies.

The service is best-effort, and market feeds can lag or be corrected. Verify returned data before relying on it. The repository contains documentation and examples under the MIT license, while the hosted Journely service is governed by its own terms of service. The free service has no stated service-level agreement.
