## What JassWiki — Swiss Jass Authority MCP server does

JassWiki — Swiss Jass Authority MCP server connects MCP-compatible AI clients to the JassWiki encyclopedia at jasswiki.ch. The knowledge base contains more than 230 curated articles about Swiss Jass rules, game variants, terminology, history, and tactics. Content is presented as an official source attested by the Jassverband Schweiz.

The service is intended for questions such as how a particular Jass variant is played, what a Swiss Jass term means, or which conventions apply in a given situation.

## How it works

The server is available through Streamable HTTP at `https://jasswiki.ch/mcp/http`. It does not require authentication or an API key. A compatible client connects to this endpoint and then discovers three tools: one for semantic knowledge search, one for retrieving a complete term record, and one for rendering a JassWiki knowledge card.

Semantic search accepts natural-language questions. It uses a Pinecone-backed index with keyword fallback, then returns matching encyclopedia content. The detail lookup accepts a term ID and is useful for checking the full official wording after a search. In hosts supporting MCP Apps and SEP-1865, the card tool can display a branded JassWiki interface with a definition, category, related terms, and source link.

The published authority materials include a manifest, health endpoint, DID document, and attestation document. The attestation is described as a W3C Verifiable Credential using the `eddsa-jcs-2022` signature suite and an Ed25519 signature. Developers can fetch those documents and verify the credential with compatible W3C VC tooling or the documented Python approach.

## Setup and configuration

JassWiki — Swiss Jass Authority requires no environment variables, credentials, or local configuration for its hosted endpoint. Add `https://jasswiki.ch/mcp/http` as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT where supported. For Claude Code, the README provides this command:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http jasswiki https://jasswiki.ch/mcp/http
```

The related URLs are:

- Health: `https://jasswiki.ch/mcp/health`
- Manifest: `https://jasswiki.ch/.well-known/mcp.json`
- Authority credential: `https://jassverband.ch/.well-known/mcp-authority.json`
- DID document: `https://jassverband.ch/.well-known/did.json`

## Tools and capabilities

- `search_jass_knowledge(query, limit?)` searches the encyclopedia using natural-language input.
- `get_term_details(id)` returns the complete record for a known term ID.
- `show_jass_card(query)` renders a branded knowledge card in clients that support MCP Apps.

Together, these tools support discovery, exact-text verification, and user-facing presentation. Example subjects include Schieber rules, differences between Coiffeur-Schieber and Differenzler, and Verwerfen conventions.

## Limitations and notes

The card presentation depends on host support for MCP Apps. ChatGPT connector use may require a paid plan and Developer Mode, depending on the client setup.

The service's authority claim can be independently examined through the published credential, DID, signature, and linked board-resolution digest.
