## Description
Idaho Statutes — state statutes by citation and by topic. Fleet #2747.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "idaho-code": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","@pipeworx/mcp-idaho-code"]
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What Idaho Code does

The Idaho Code MCP server exposes current Idaho statutory material through MCP. It connects to the Idaho Legislature’s public statutes website and supports two pack-specific tools: `id_statute` retrieves one section by citation, while `id_search` searches official chapter and section catchlines by topic or keyword.

A statute response includes the section’s current text, official catchline, title and chapter context, and the amendment history printed by Idaho. The response also states that historical text from before an amendment is unavailable. This makes the server suitable for researching current law and identifying relevant citations, but not for reconstructing prior versions of a statute.

## How it works

`id_statute` accepts citations such as `18-4001`. Idaho citations omit the chapter digit, so the implementation derives the chapter from the numeric section using Idaho’s numbering pattern, then verifies the result against the live chapter listing before returning data. Confirmed missing citations are distinguished from transport and parsing failures rather than being silently treated as absent.

`id_search` searches an index of approximately 20,400 live section catchlines and the catchline for each section’s chapter. It does not search the full prose of statutes because the official site does not provide a keyless full-text search API. Both tools use the official legislature.idaho.gov pages, which are publicly accessible without credentials.

As a Legal category tool, the Idaho Code MCP server is best used to locate and inspect current statutory provisions. Results should be checked against the source and interpreted appropriately for the intended legal task.

## Setup and configuration

The hosted MCP endpoint is:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "idaho-code": {
      "url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/idaho-code/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

The package also supports local stdio execution without a Pipeworx account:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "idaho-code": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@pipeworx/mcp-idaho-code"]
    }
  }
}
```

The hosted endpoint includes shared Pipeworx gateway meta-tools in addition to the pack tools. The local process exposes only the Idaho pack’s tools. The same tools can also be called over HTTP, including `POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/id_statute` with a JSON citation.

## Tools and capabilities

- `id_statute({citation})`: retrieves one section’s current text, catchline, context, and amendment history.
- `id_search({query, limit?})`: searches official chapter and section catchlines by keyword or topic.
- Current statutory text sourced from Idaho Legislature pages.
- Amendment or enactment history through each section’s `History:` field.
- Verified handling of invalid chapters and section citations.

## Limitations and notes

Search is not full-text statutory search. Historical versions are not available because the official source serves current text, while session-law PDFs are not indexed by Code citation. The generated search index may need to be rebuilt after a legislative session’s codification pass. No authentication or environment variables are required for the documented hosted or local setup.
