## Description
MCP server for Huly — manage issues, projects, members and more via Claude.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "huly-mcp": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","huly-mcp-sdk"],
    "env": {
      "HULY_TOKEN": "",
      "HULY_WORKSPACE": "",
      "HULY_EMAIL": "",
      "HULY_PASSWORD": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `HULY_TOKEN`, `HULY_WORKSPACE`, `HULY_EMAIL`, `HULY_PASSWORD` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What huly-mcp MCP server does

The huly-mcp MCP server gives an AI client access to a Huly workspace through MCP tools. Huly can be hosted at huly.app or self-hosted, and the server uses the workspace slug from the Huly URL to select the target workspace.

Its 36 tools cover project and issue administration, collaboration, planning, documentation, and search. An agent can inspect or create projects, retrieve and modify issues, manage comments, record time, apply labels, define issue relationships, and list workspace members. It can also work with milestones and project components.

Document support includes teamspaces, document creation and retrieval, Markdown updates, deletion, and linking a document to an issue.

## How it works

The huly-mcp MCP server runs over standard stdio transport. A compatible client starts the package with `npx huly-mcp-sdk`, then supplies authentication and workspace settings as environment variables. Requests from the client are exposed as named MCP tools rather than requiring the agent to interact with Huly’s interface directly.

Authentication can use `HULY_TOKEN`, or `HULY_EMAIL` and `HULY_PASSWORD` when token expiry is a problem. Google and GitHub SSO accounts are supported by the interactive setup flow, which sends a one-time code by email. The workspace is selected with `HULY_WORKSPACE`.

## Setup and configuration

Node.js 20 or newer and a Huly account are required. The quickest setup path is:

```bash
npx huly-mcp-sdk setup
```

The wizard writes an `.env` file after authentication. The workspace slug is the segment after the domain in a Huly URL; for example, `huly.app/myteam` gives the slug `myteam`.

For clients that do not use the package directly, clone the repository, install dependencies, and build it:

```bash
git clone https://github.com/varaprasadreddy9676/huly-mcp.git
cd huly-mcp && npm install && npm run build
```

The compiled server can then be launched with Node and the absolute path to `dist/index.js`.

## Tools and capabilities

The huly-mcp MCP server provides tools to:

- List, inspect, and create projects.
- List, search, create, update, and delete issues.
- Add, list, and delete issue comments.
- Log time and manage labels.
- Add relations, blocked-by links, and parent relationships.
- List members, milestones, and components; create milestones and components.
- List teamspaces and documents, create or update documents, delete documents, and link documents to issues.

Issue updates can change fields such as status, priority, assignee, due date, component, and milestone. Issue listing supports status and priority filters, while search performs full-text matching across issues.

## Limitations and notes

The server uses stdio rather than a hosted HTTP endpoint. Client configuration details vary by application, although the command, package argument, and environment-variable pattern remain the same for standard MCP clients.
