## What Hong Kong Company Registry 香港公司查冊 MCP server does

Hong Kong Company Registry 香港公司查冊 MCP server gives MCP-compatible AI clients access to active Hong Kong company records through The Company Atlas. It is intended for finding registered companies and inspecting a company record from its Business Registration Number (BRN).

Name searches accept English or Chinese text. For example, a query can match companies containing “Swire” or “太古”. Searches can also narrow results by company type, registered office address, and incorporation date range. The available registry data includes company type, registered office address, incorporation date, and former company names.

## How it works

The repository does not run a separate local server. Instead, the MCP connection is provided by The Company Atlas at:

Add that URL as a custom connector in an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor. The endpoint uses Streamable HTTP for transport. Authentication is handled through Google OAuth; the README states that signing in once keeps the connection authenticated afterward.

The search tool applies all supplied filters together, so a name, type, address, or date condition further restricts the other conditions. At least one search condition is required. Name terms must contain between 2 and 120 characters, and result pagination supports a maximum `limit` of 50, with 20 as the default.

## Tools and capabilities

`HongKong_search_companies` searches the active-company registry. Its supported inputs are:

- `q`: an English or Chinese name fragment, matched against both English and Chinese company names
- `entityType`: text found in the company type, such as `guarantee`
- `address`: text found in the registered office address
- `incorporatedFrom` and `incorporatedTo`: date boundaries in `YYYY-MM-DD` format
- `page` and `limit`: pagination controls

`HongKong_get_company` retrieves a company by its eight-digit BRN. The identifier may be supplied with or without an `HK` prefix. The returned record includes the available company details and former names.

## Setup and configuration

Use an MCP client that supports custom Streamable HTTP connectors. Add the The Company Atlas Hong Kong endpoint, then complete the Google login flow. No local environment variables or locally hosted process are described in the provided setup material.

## Limitations and notes

Hong Kong Company Registry 香港公司查冊 covers the Hong Kong Companies Registry company register for companies that are still active. It does not include directors, shareholders, or filed documents. Those records must be obtained from the official Companies Registry.

The listing recommends checking information against the Companies Registry before relying on it. Some registered non-Hong Kong companies may not have an English name, so searches should also consider Chinese names. The service connection and data access are provided by The Company Atlas rather than by a server process in this repository.
