## What HasData Zillow does

The HasData Zillow MCP server gives MCP clients two read-only tools for working with public Zillow listing pages. One tool searches for-sale, for-rent, or sold properties by location and filters. The other accepts a Zillow property URL and returns a fuller record for that home.

Search results can include the address, Zillow URL or zpid, price, Zestimate, beds, baths, square footage, home type, status, days on Zillow, coordinates, thumbnail, and listing agent. Property details can include list price, Zestimate, Rent Zestimate, price history, tax history, living area, lot size, year built, home type, HOA information, and other listing fields documented by the API.

## How it works

The HasData Zillow MCP server is hosted at `https://mcp.hasdata.com/mcp?apis=zillow` and uses streamable HTTP. Requests authenticate with an `x-api-key` header containing a HasData API key. The service reads Zillow pages that a signed-out visitor can access; it does not require a local scraper, container, or other server process when the client supports remote MCP connections.

The listing tool searches by a location keyword and can apply price, bedroom, bathroom, home-type, time-on-market, sorting, and pagination options. Additional documented filters cover areas such as square footage, lot size, year built, HOA, amenities, views, pets, listing type, and property status. A search response includes result counts, properties, and pagination data. The property tool is intended for inspecting one result in greater depth, including histories and estimates that may not be present in a shortlist.

## Setup and configuration

Create a HasData API key and configure the remote endpoint in an MCP client. The required environment variable for the local launcher is `HASDATA_API_KEY`. Clients with remote HTTP support can use the endpoint and header directly. Claude Desktop can also use the npm launcher `@hasdata/zillow-mcp` with `npx`, or the Python launcher `hasdata-zillow-mcp` with `uvx`, passing the key through the environment.

The README provides configurations for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code. OAuth-capable clients may connect to the same URL and sign in instead of placing the key in a configuration file.

## Tools and capabilities

- `hasdata_zillow_listing_getRealEstateListings`: searches a location for sale, rent, or sold listings using structured filters.
- `hasdata_zillow_property_getPropertyDetails`: reads detailed data for a single Zillow property URL.

Both tools are read-only. A practical workflow is to search first, rank or shortlist the returned properties, then call the property tool for selected homes when price history, tax history, rental estimates, schools, or other full-page information is needed.

## Limitations and notes

The HasData Zillow MCP server is limited to data available on public Zillow pages visible without signing in. It does not provide write operations. The search result is not necessarily the complete property record, so detailed fields may require a separate property call.

The supplied materials report different per-call credit figures: the tool listing states 5 credits per call, while README examples and pricing text refer to 10 credits for example calls and describe the free tier differently. Verify current rates and quotas in the HasData account or API documentation before planning usage. Raw JSON-RPC clients may need to parse `result.content[0].text` and then inspect the nested JSON payload; chat clients generally unwrap this response.
