## What HasData Indeed MCP server does

HasData Indeed MCP server exposes two read-only tools for public Indeed job data. The listing tool searches by keyword and location and returns a page of matching jobs. Results can include titles, employers, locations, salary information when published, posting dates, job URLs, descriptions, benefits, and pagination data.

The details tool accepts a job URL and returns a fuller record. Its output can include the title, company, location, compensation, employment type, posting date, complete description, requirements, benefits, and application URL. The data is structured as JSON, making it suitable for agents that need to filter, compare, or summarize listings.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint uses streamable HTTP:

Clients authenticate with an `x-api-key` header containing a HasData API key. The service reads Indeed postings visible to signed-out visitors, so an Indeed developer account or partner approval is not part of the setup described by the project.

Searches require a keyword and location. Optional inputs include date or relevance sorting, an Indeed country domain, and a numeric result offset for later pages. To inspect a result in depth, pass its job URL to the details tool. A client handles the MCP response for normal chat use; direct JSON-RPC callers may need to parse the JSON stored inside the returned text block.

## Setup and configuration

HasData Indeed MCP server requires an MCP client and a HasData API key. The remote configuration uses the endpoint above and the `x-api-key` header. The README documents direct configurations for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code.

Claude Desktop can also connect through a local stdio launcher. The npm package is `@hasdata/indeed-mcp`, and the Python package is `hasdata-indeed-mcp`; both read `HASDATA_API_KEY` from the environment. This route is useful when a client configuration accepts local commands rather than remote HTTP servers.

## Tools and capabilities

- `hasdata_indeed_job_getJobDetails`: Retrieves the full available information for one Indeed posting.
- Supports listing pagination through a `start` offset.

- Returns read-only, structured job data.

## Limitations and notes

HasData Indeed MCP server only exposes read operations; it does not apply to jobs or modify Indeed data. Salary fields appear only when the posting states compensation, so salary-based searches need to filter returned records rather than assume every result includes pay.

The supplied materials show conflicting per-call credit figures: the tool listing states 5 credits, while README examples and the tool table state 10 credits. Confirm the current rate and free-tier allowance in HasData before designing a high-volume workflow. Paging and each details lookup consume additional calls. Results also reflect public Indeed postings and may change as Indeed updates its pages.
